Famous saying goes "Pride always comes before the fall"
that all 6" armor cruiser had to be a player design. that is the max armor some light cruiser hulls allow. the A.I would never max out like that
i have realized that it is worth mounting one torpedo on battleships because the A.I wont charge you if you have port and starbord torps. I accidentally forgot to put torps on my dreadnought and that was the only time the A.I. really charged in and tried to hit me with their torps in 1913 ish timeframe.
That was RECKLESS
another suggestion for making the game more difficult is only making the ships as small as possible no matter what.
max hit i've seen so far is 18000 damage with high explosive build around picric acid, heavy shells and nose fuse. i've also managed to burn down a battleship that was at 100% float and 74% hull. building for max high explosive (and fires) can be very effective.
once you reaqlized you were loosing the fight, im surprized you did not run. i realize you may have still been sunk but running away requires the enemy to chase (hurting their accuracy) and you may have survived
In my campaign France has a trillion dollar budget and I’ve destroyed like 300 of his ships and they keep printing entire fleets 🤣
Considering that hammering that ship took, I feel it did surprisingly well. If it had a large battery of 13” or 14” twin mounts, it would be a very good ship. That may be a better option than scrapping her sister ship.
if I could change two things about the game, I'd make it that you could immediately test a ship after you build/refit refit it in campaign mode and that you could choose to build more of your refit ships even if outdated.
You can also decommission ships and the AI will buy them for about 50% of what you paid for it. So if its a shitty old ship you can sell it to an ally for money
Wakaba class should be renamed Tokyo Drift
When you refit that ship did it actually have a time that said 18 months? I have seen this bugged btw it says like 5 months in my case but does only take 1 which matched the in editor refit time. I’m not sure if you get this too late but try refitting your other one. I don’t think it’ll take the 18 months it says. Sad to see your ship die. The only time I have seen one that big is my own die against a stupid sub 2 months after commissioned he decided to go on patrol by himself. Stupid captain.
Im surprised Japan or anyone else doesn't have a "Modern Battlecruiser" hull. Their really should be one cus your battlecruiser hulls are still "dreadnaught" era with all the casemate ports.
As for your Finances, maybe retire a couple battleships since you have 10 of them (say 4 of them?). Could replace said Battleships with Battle Cruisers since their cheaper and pack a similar punch. You also got 14 Heavy Cruisers, a good number but barely any Light Cruisers (i guess their all in the repair yard?). Heck you could Scrap your Light Cruisers for more Destroyers. (say 4 or 5 turrets with 2 sets of torps) Also I know they don't cost MUCH but do you really need 62 submarines? Some of them are probably 10 years old by now if not more.
I restarted my German 1910 Campaign from scratch and immediately it is a vast improvement. I have friends in the form of the US, Japan, Austria Hungary, and Italy and we all allied against the technologically stagnant Soviet Union which has suffered 4 major defeats that has reduced its navy to shambles of its former self (only 43 ships or less) while I have a 200+ ship fleet between my nearly 100 subs, 20 9 or 11 inch armed battlecruisers acting as heavy cruisers until a modern heavy cruiser hull is unlocked, 20 14 inch armed battleships (some have been refit since the start of the campaign and have gradually been replaced), 40 light cruisers and 60 destroyers. There was no major war during the 19-teens so all of that anger culminated into a war against the soviets in the 1920s which is now spreading to include Spain and France that want a piece of me now. Meanwhile, Britain is on the sidelines, but slowly turning against us since it does support the Soviets in a minor capacity economically. Despite the spanking I'm giving the Soviets and will soon give the French and Spanish, Britain is the only major threat to my country as it has matched technology with me. My strategy is to delay war with them until the last possible moment as I'm already in a two front war – a war with many friends, but a two front war nonetheless.
Id say this more of a reason you don't you Mark 1 or mark 2 guns rather then using 16inch or bigger.
#stealth one of the reasons why yr not able to sustain a large fleet is because yr not invading the enemy territories enough. In yr last adventure u failed to grab Hong Kong, all of Borneo, Singapore, Malay etc. Before that u failed to secure Sakhalin completely and the Islands, and even before that u failed to capture Philippines even though they were allied to Germans/Americans at the time and they have oil too. Now yr completely ignoring the Vietnam, Southern China where the French have ports. This is yr opportunity to grab more land/ports to increase not only yr budget but also yr shipbuilding capacity.
The reason why yr facing problems is because yourrepeating the same mistake again that u did in IXION i.e. yr biting far too much more then u can chew.
Only agree to sign peace treaties against an opponent when u complete all yr objectives i.e. securing all their Islands/ports in East Asia instead of focusing only on naval battles at sea in order to better yr war score. Focus should be on invading enemy territories, If naval battles come on the way then good if not no worries. Don't just relay on getting them for free in peace treaties since u cant get all of them that way.
This should be the approach as the game mechanics seem to be designed that way for a meaning full success. That way bigger fleets can be sustained as well as technologies, crew training can be improved too. Since yr still designated as mere average in tech by the game and this is probably 3/4 video in which yr tech budget investments remain low interms how they should be. Also yr suspending the construction/refit of ships too which r taking u further back in contemporary tech in the game. In this video u have ended up loosing a Battleship which u delayed improving thanks to low shipyard capacity and budget, and this is yr first defeat in ages as well as yr first battleship loss if i remember correctly of the series. Resulting in Japan itself proposing a peace treaty to u which is also never happened before.
This should be a wakeup call interms of how this game should be played in an optimum manner.
The death star got deathstar'd
how do i get the power projection to show? it doesnt show for me
I'm glad your rid of that white elephant.
Day 5 of asking for a Japanese Wyoming
I feel like Her sister needs an extensive retrofit or simply redesign of the whole class as while her performance was great
(She tanked lots of hits)
Getting up close was definitely not a good idea
Ironically this is what happened with Musashi, she got sunk and Yamato was just kept in port for the rest of it the war (practically anyways)
Bismarck too, the H class designs were revised and Tirpitz kept in port afterwards
Main problem was most likely how slow those guns main guns reloaded, perhaps give these class of ships better turning radius so they can keep distance much easier and distribute damage much better among both sides. The secondaries really helped the Yashima deal with a lot of the Escort ships but her main guns fired too slowly and weren’t accurate enough to deal with the Capital Ships of that fleet. Giving these classes of ships steoroscopic if if you haven’t would allow them to really become snipers. Do not ever build a ship to brawl with many, because you’re eventually going to be overwhelmed by their increasing accuracy and torpedo hits
well time to sink all the german navy then
Reminds me of another Japanese super battleship that sunk in her first fight.
War is expensive, maintaining a modern fleet always leads to financial trouble, especially when you start losing ships. Better retrofit what you can before half your fleet is at the bottom of the ocean for various reasons.
Rest is peace Yashima, you severed the Empire well, even if your crew were inexperienced and the circumstances unfortunate, may you rest in peace.
Stealth why didnt you disengage at 35:00 ? At literally every second after this moment i kept screaming on top of my lungs for you to just turn tail and run.
at no point in this fight did the germans HAVE to get the Yashima. You gave it to them.
Wow it looks like your old museum ships are performing a lot better than the new big Yashima 😜 but it was a real fun battle tho !!! 😉
For what little help it may be, I find that the main guns will hit the deck armor as close as 10km and at times closer, so even at those ranges, the deck penetration needs to be considered. It’s why I’ve started to shorten the barrels on my BBs and BCs. I tend to close range as well and it helps out a bit.
Temper temper Haruna.
Think Yashima's reload woes are a prime example of why many other players will only use bigger guns with Admiral Snackbar's balance mod.
Hi Stealth I think you had your main guns on save, I don't know if that affected your main guns firing time.
