At 1,550 feet, the just-completed Central Park Tower is the tallest residential building in the world—with some of its 179 apartments reaching more than a quarter-mile into the air. Brook Silva-Braga got an exclusive first look at what’s at the top.

  1. Everyone commenting about how you wouldn’t really want to live there, keep in mind that the majority of the people who own apartments in that building aren’t living there either.

  2. An architectural vulgarity. The most damnable thing is that the majority of the apartments, while sold, are vacant. Luxury real estate in NYC is a major tax avoidance scam, dominated by unscrupulous real estate agents and even more unscrupulous buyers, who purchase those apartments with no intent to reside there, but solely to get tax deductions under various LLC, etc. schemes. NYC refuses to go after these corrupt tax scofflaws. Money rules in NYC and corrupt money rules even more.

  3. To me it’s so tacky. Looking down at the park like that is a life as lonely as a rare bird flying that high.
    The living room somehow felt cozy but nonetheless, being that high up is just tasteless.
