"An Atheist is a Proof of God" – Hamza Yusuf

There’s a book called “Why God Will Not Go Away” and this is the neurology of belief. People are wired to believe. And then there’s— it’s just— the truth in that, it’s as simple as that. People do have belief.

  1. Does this pass as logic these days? It is true that there are about as many definitions of God as there are theists, as everybody’s definition seem to be slightly different.
But even with the amount of times I have asked a theist to give me his/her definition of God, I have either never come across a single definition I could stand behind, or when God was defined as something existing, like energy, they failed to justify why we should label it as God.

As to unbelief proving the existence of God, I assume this only works for Allah, because there are a lot of claims out there, if my disbelief in them proves them, things get messy. Just think of the thousands of other gods or all the supernatural or spiritual claims.

Lastly the notion that atheists aren’t being struck down with lighting is a testament to the mercy of Allah is plain ridiculous. Basically it is a unfalsifiable notion.
I could just as well flip a coin and say Allah’s greatness will cause the coin to always land on tails, but whenever it doesn’t, it just proves how humble Allah is for not showing off his awesome power…

  2. Always be careful who you're taking knowledge from. This "Rumi kind of thing is nothing to do with the traditional Ahlul 'Ilm. Nobody took knowledge from him regarding scholarly Islamic knowledge. He wasn't a Faqeeh nor a muhaddith. So, his poems may impact you as well as non-muslim poets can. Anyway.. may Allah protect us all from being deceived by the evil.

  3. Nicely pointed out.
See, atheists often say that "religion is bogus cause-" then they proceed to point out all the errors of christianity, that has NOTHING TO DO with Islam. They have different interpretation, Muslims have other. These so-called intelligent people often generalise religion.
