Having recovered from the surprise attack on Pearl Harbour a few years prior, America were now ready to take the fight to Japan. This led to 5 major ‘carrier-versus-carrier’ engagements, the last of which was The Battle of the Philippine Sea. Japan had the better planes, but America had the superior pilots. What followed was an American victory so dominant that the aerial part of the battle was dubbed the Great Marianas Turkey Shoot.

I’ve always loved whoever wrote this line and the irony associated with it 34:50. Kamikaze made loads of sense IF we ignore it was directly responsible to the amplification and ultimate deployment of the most devastating weapon used in combat in the history of mankind. So yeah. I guess effective in a bubble ignoring consequences.
But effectiveness and human cost is an input to calculate when considering matériel and strategy. The kamikaze was a desperate and horrendous tactic that did nothing more but force the hand, and in their eyes justify, strategic war commanders to end the war swiftly.
Were those Axis & Allies transport ships that fellow was putting on the map?
At 21:03, and places before & after, the narrator keeps speaking "Zero" while showing the Ki-43.
More weapons, more wars, more money, good business for the weapon manufacturer. Beware of the 'PROXY' wars created by you know who always ignites / interfering to other countries.
Example here in America, more guns, the more mass shootings, more deaths especially to children. Why the politicians allowed the US troops to be send and spend MILLION or BILLION of dollars to Korea (1950's), Vietnam (1960's-70's), Afghanistan, Iraq ??? Why not use these tons of DOLLARS to be use for the million HOMELESS American including Military VETERANS? How about use it for creating more JOBS here in America for American people? Why spending MILLION Dollars to UKRAINE against RUSSIA? Solve the high GAS/OIL prices here in US for the American people.
NOW Lets go to the SOUTH CHINA SEA or WEST PHILIPINE SEA —- 'dispute' ————————————-
On June 3, 2012 then DFA Secretary Albert Del Rosario ordered the PHI Coast Guard / BFAR ships to RETREAT from a a standoff.
PCA award / ruling is only a 'declaration'. It's NOT enforceable and can Not be implemented. NO Order.
Even the United Nations can Not force China. Why AMERICA did not stop China w/ the VFA / MDT ???
How come the US military with the VFA didn't stop China from reclaiming islands way back 2012?
Why the DFA Secretary A. Del Rosario ordered the PHI Navy ships to retreat way back 2012?
UN Security Council can not force China. China is 1 of the 5 Permanent member of the UNSC with 'VETO' power. In the PCA ruling, it's only a Declarations, NO Order.
Tama lang ang ginawa ng dating Presidente Duterte PRRD. In his presidency, walang isla kahit is na nawala. It was during the term of President Fidel V. Ramos that we lost Mischief Reef (Philippine name: Panganiban Reef) in 1995 and Scarborough Shoal under President Benigno Aquino’s watch in 2012.
REMEMBER This: After 16 travel times of former Senator Antonio TRILLANES to CHINA as a backdoor negotiator, the Philippines LOST the scarborough shoal…
What is a Territory? It is an area of land under the jurisdiction of a ruler or state.
What is a Territorial Sea? Is defined under the UNCLOS as the 12-nautical mile zone from the baseline or low-water line along the coast.
What is a Sovereignty? It is the supreme power or authority. the authority of a state to govern itself or another state.
What is a Sovereign Rights? Sovereign rights are not Territorial rights deriving from sovereignty but rights of specific functional purpose. Sovereign rights in Article 56 of UNCLOS suggests rights are exclusive, not preferential over other states. EEZ or Exclusive economic zone is not sovereign territory, anybody can basically do anything there but for taking out the resources.
Sa mga Filipinos na mga matatapang mag comment, if you really a patriotic Pinoy (mapagmahal sa Bayan) please join the Military service. If you're a High school student, please volunteer to join the ROTC, CAT, CMT training exercises / services. Kung takot ka, iwasan mo na lang mag comment ng negative about the decision being made by the Commander-in-Chief.
Fact is even today July 11, 2022 there's No OFFICIAL Philippine map indicating the territorial sea, EEZ and other maritime zones since we are still awaiting for the maritime zones bill to become law.
Whoever reads this, may the Lord God in heaven bless you and your family 🙏😇

The Zero was designed by Howard Hughs in the 30's . That's why it was of such quality . He designed it to compete in air races .
Battle of the Philippine Sea,? this is all about factory output.
So now i can connect the dots, halfway through this video, now comes the battle for which this is titled. Thank you
Unfortunately, we gave up our industrial might to China because the Supreme Court allowed corporations to bribe our legislators and corporations have one commandment “maximize profits”. The idiots on the Court ruled that corporations were persons protected by the First Amendment free speech clause and money is speech. So bribery is just corporations speaking to their legislators. Even my grandson at eleven knows how ridiculous this is.
aluminum and hot bullets do not mix
soo the second world war set the scene for the next world war communism
You are pushing the bullet train connection much too vigorously. Streamlining wasn’t invented in Japan. Do not use this to justify what those people did.
America’s disappointment in modern wars was not production, such as in Vietnam, Afghanistan or Iraq. It was in Washington. Period.
And now we can't make a five gallon bucket.
WAY TO MANY ADS–YOU WATCH IT
The Battle of the Philipican Amercian
I submit that, in the hands of a competent pilot, the F4F was a better fighter.
Philippines, its that the country the US took from Spain then came in and killed 500,000 to make it part of the US Anglo-American empire?
The AVG did not encounter Zeros in 1940!!! The Flying Tigers didn't meet the Japanese for the first time until December 21st ] 1941. That's two weeks after Pearl Harber. Geeez! I heard that and turned this off.
Just don't dog fight the A6M. Thatch's weave and boom and zoom spelled the end of Zero's dominance. Add in bigger and much more powerful aircraft soon the Japanese are swept from the skies.
Did that guy just use Axis and Allies pieces?
“Infantry wins battles, logistics wins wars.”
General John J. Pershing, commander of the American Expeditionary Forces during WWI
Interesting how the Japanese were all about quality for their Naval fighters, but gave their soldiers the absolute crappiest rifles & guns
The Germans in the form of the FW 190 had the best fighter in the World. The FW 190A3 of late 1941 was far superior to the Mitsubishi A6M2 Model 21 Zero that equipped the fighter arm of the Japanese Naval carrier arm at the start of the Pacific War.
I'll try agan, apologies if this ends up being a double post

"this [the bullet train] might never have happened if the pressures of war had not pushed Japan's engineers…"
That statement is definitely true. Out of necessity wars tend to bring technological advancement that is eventually passed down to civilians.
Had the US decided to to invade, instead of using the atomic bombs, Japan would have been left a wasteland and would not have recovered from the war nearly as fast.
I know this is morbid to say, but if you think about it, one of the best things that happened to Japan was those two bombs.
For some reason it just makes me happy whenever I hear one of the podcaster's voices (James or The Tristorian). I'm not entirely sure why, but I just noticed that in the beginning when he mentions History Hit it brought a smile to my face lol.
Rubbish. If you believe this gas, you must believe that the Vietnamese didn't defeat the French and Americans, the Afghans lost to the Soviets and Americans, the Israelis lost all of their wars, and the Visigoths never sacked Rome.
General Clare L Chennault had tamed the zero when leading the private Flying Tigers in southern China. Paid for by China his organisation was folded into the USAAF following Pearl Harbour. His men had fount how to dominate the ZERO and destroy them but he was an outcast, for fighting for China. Personality and outright incompetence turned a worrisome opponent into the greatest fighter of the war. It never was. Remember, Charles Lindbergh doubled the range of the twin boon P38. That too was ignored.
Talk about the Zero a lot. Keep showing pictures and video of Ki43s and Harvards modified to look like Zeroes. Closed video.
Plus the allies had a plan of rotating pilots out of combat after so many missions to train the new pilots on what they had learned in combat where Japan and Germany continued to use there pilots flying till their eventual death and new pilots never had the chance to learn from their experience
1 hpe the P0W's captured after MW t01d them Amer!ca w!11 crush them 1!|<e a m!11st0ne crushes a seed.
Bigtime! US government has messed with military prowess far too many times! Politicians should keep their noses on paper, not in the trenches! War us declared? Fine! Let the military handle it with minimal government intervention! Period!
Too many commercials. I’m out!
