Fast, stealthy, and attack submarine. Feast your eyes on America’s next generation Block V Virginia class nuclear fast-attack submarine. Its new upgrades will make it the most advanced in America’s subsurface fleet that is critical to protecting the western pacific region. Please Just don’t be like that sailor in the Indian Navy who accidentally left a hatch open and deadlined their 3 billion dollar sub for a year. Guys, There are easier ways to get out of your enlistment.

But The Pentagon recently slashed the production rate of the U.S Virginia class from two per year down to just one. This triggered major backlash within the halls of Congress. Because by the Navy’s own estimates, US shipyards need to produce at least two Virginia class attack subs per year to deter future threats. Today we’re going to find out what makes the Virgina class so deadly. What role it plays in the Navy’s broader strategy. And why the Pentagon is cutting this asset in half. I’m your average infantryman chris cappy lets do this thing!

  2. You missed an entire class of ship. The VPM program and block V boats were built to replace the capacity of the 4 SSGN. 4 SSBN boats were converted to carry 154 tomahawk missiles each. As the life cycle of the 4 guided missile boats comes to an end the Navy needed to find away you put all those missiles onto another ship class. The Navy and Electric Boat have a long history of inserting conversion and modifications in current ships in production. It allows the Navy to have new capabilities while keeping the procurement time under 10-15 years. So basically the Navy wanted lots of tomahawk missiles right now and Block V /VPM was the solution.

  3. All that fancy tech but the simple fact is US shipyards cant keep up with the existing fleet. The number of US subs is actually be declining due to age and maintenance issues with a half the fleet moored up in drydock.

  4. Ironically, started reading Jack Carr’s “Red Sky Mourning” yesterday. The first chapter covered some of the things you mentioned regarding China. Anyway, very interesting topic a that was presented exquisitely.

  5. I live near Groton CT and Electric Boat is the big employer down here. We got geniuses and idiots who work there. The stuff we hear about, the non-classified stuff that is, is wild! You touched on alot of it like deploying SEAL teams, elongated hulls for extra missiles, all that stuff. This video felt incredibly familiar cause for once I have heard all about it hahaha

  6. Great info. Thank you. You misspelled/typo'd "Virginia" … it isn't "Virgina". Same name as the Commonwealth of Virginia, site of the first permanent English colony, as beaten into me (and others) by my English/history teacher. Mrs. Ryan would not be happy with you. Many of us still have scars on our hands from impacts by rulers.

  7. Love your videos. True to your "average infantryman" reputation you mangled the "Falklands" war! JK, you're hilarious! BTW the last sub sank ship was the ex. USS Phoenix—General Belgrano. She was present at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. All kidding aside, this country needs to field an ATT (Anti-Torpedo-Torpedo) ASAP.

  8. What a nonsensical comment is about the Indian Navy leaving a sub’s hatch open, where do you get your defence information from. You may be right about US defence developments but what makes you even think that your spot on about India’s defence developments.
Just you give you some idea India is a surrounded on 3 sides by seas which are hostile so for us every sub every ship counts, we have 2 hostile neighbours constantly plotting war with us. Unlink the US, a lot of defence developments in India cannot with made public due to security concerns, we share a certain information protocol which is similar to Israel.
Americans can thank their lucky starts they don’t really have hostile neighbours that plot war with them, as ur country is at war within 😊 a war with drugs and addiction, a war with gun crimes etc, a weak and lame duck president 👴 We saw his lost behaviour at the G20 summit what a jocker you guys have !
So please watch your mouth before you unload shit 💩 next time !

  9. Q: it’s pretty obvious China /CCP has been gearing up for a while for war with the west, more specifically America… so WHY THE HELL ARE WE STILL BOLSTERING THEIR ECONOMY????
