  1. A modern day one with this quality
    Guy Sebastian singing choir
Look on site Kiss Fm for choir version where he goes to a school that's been practising this song for a year and don't know he's visiting
Also has a bonus song after he wrote both songs
Ch0is about someone he knew that took his live and wanted to bring to people that theirs help for you out their and how much your missed it's a celebration song not a downer
He wrote a song for he's wife who suffers depression as well titled standing with you from memory others maybe able to elaborate if I'm wrong
Also wrote battle scars for our military during lockdown as we where unable to celebrate ANZAC day so he wrote this and posted on Web for all to hear in his home studio
I think you'll like his music theirs always a story behind them

  2. John faced the same issues that Cold Chisel did when trying to break into the US music market.
The american record label Exec's were so set in their ways in how they perceived their audience expects their music to sound that they tried to boss around the aussie artists to make them sound american. The Aussies dug their heels in and refused to change for anyone.
John wrote his song "Playing To Win", in response and as a bit of a slap in the face and as a warning that he didn't have to be there and that they had better get their act together or he would happily walk away and they would miss out on the deal of a lifetime.
Ian and Jimmy from Cold Chisel wrote their song "You Got Nothing I Want!" as a massive slap in the face for the same Exec's who thought the world revolved around them. They thoroughly pointed out that the Exec's were fools who had no idea what they had failed to latch onto and their diplomacy skilled sucked terribly.

  3. You want another Aussie singer? Check out Matt Corby’s acoustic version of Brother on Like a Version. You’ll thank me later 😊 also don’t forget Jimmy Barnes as a solo singer- he has had a huge career since Cold Chisel!

  4. It came down to Johns choice that he wanted to stay close to his wife and young family rather than tour endlessly. He was offered lead singer for Queen by Brian May after the death of Freddie (at Freddie's suggestion prior and Brians agreement apparently) but turned it down. As you will read in the comments he was admired by many top vocalists and we Aussies have been lucky to have him but it is exciting to see so many people discover him now thanks to the interwebs!

  5. That’s me in every JF concert I attended…NOT sitting but up bopping to the music…we couldn’t help it…the music made us do it❤. The energy at his concerts was like a great high but without the drugs…. I was so very privileged ❤❤

  6. Yeah Brian Johnson will not sing this song out of respect for Bon Scott it’s him that sings this not Brian , it’s Bon’s he song.. It’s John Farnham favourite rock & roll song and he has always sings it right up until 2020. He was friends with Bon Scott.. 😀🇦🇺👍

  7. Check out Jimmy Barnes from his solo years try Stone Cold by Jimmy Barnes featuring Joe Bonamassa. I'm sure you already know that Jimmy was lead or co lead of Cold Chisel but he also had an incredibly successful solo career.

  8. John chose family over international exposure and continual touring. I believe he had a small following in the UK, and a small number of European countries; through album sales.

  11. I love your enthusiasm about our Farnsey! You did the song a bit of a disservice by stopping it before the big finish though. And there was a little too much hair-talk. But still, you've caught the Farnham fever now & there's no cure. Keep 'em coming! Hi from Melbourne, Australia.

  12. America 🇺🇸 has NO place for OUR MUSIC – ESPECIALLY THIS ONE! There R COVERS, CHOIRS across Europe, CANADA and AUSTRALASIA who have done this song!

U Know it’s about GUN CONTROL – RIGHT? UR PRECIOUS NRA BLOCKED THIS SONG FROM U. It NOT part of their agenda to make U all STUPID!!! That’s how the world sees U! How embarrassing for the (LOL😂) freeest country (NOT) in the world 🌎

U don’t know this song or the GREATEST SINGER of all time – JOHN FARNHAM – Cause his NOT AMERICAN! Losers who still live in the 1700 with that DISGUSTING 2nd Amendment that GOD help U if u change!

UR FOREFATHERS HAVE TURNED IN THEIR GRAVES

AT THE LEVEL IF STUPIDITY THAT EXISTS IN UR SOCIETY TODAY!

That Is SOOOO Clear to EVERYONE

  13. Many great Aussie singers to discover and rock singers too.

    From 1957….. Johnny O’Keefe
    Shake Baby Shake
    Shout
    The Wild One
    Sing !
    Move Baby Move
    She’s My Baby

    1958-
Real Wild Child / Shake Baby Shake

These videos are all available on U Tube….. can’t guarantee the video quality, and if he looks old, don’t bother.
He kept performing until he couldn’t find his walking frame. lol

    1960’s-
Normie Rowe – Que Sera and Shakin All Over

Doug Parkinson ( In Focus ) – Dear Prudence….. any version, even recent by an old man are still often brilliant.

    1970’s onwards –

Farnham and Jimmy Barnes you know about.

Mark Lizotte ( Johnny Diesel )- Crying Shame and many more.

    Jon Stephens ( Noiseworks )
Dave Gleeson ( The Screaming Jets ) – Better
    October Grey
    Shivers

1993 – Billy Thorpe and the Aztecs, live at Boggo Road Gaol / Jail.
Forget the early stuff from the early 1960’s ….. consider the Sunbury videos from 1971 , but the Boggo Road concert is consistently better, as is Billy’s solo work in and for radio stations….. just him and his guitar – Most People I Know ( think I’m crazy ) and Somewhere Over the Rainbow….. true, it is brilliant.

Also live in American radio stations, Colin Hay from Men At Work….. better than the whole group. lol

    And from New Zealand……
Split Enz – That was My Mistake
And then renamed Crowded House…… too many songs to list. lol

  14. John did more duets with others including Olivia Newton-John “please don’t ask me”, Anthony Warlow (Opera / tenor) “Grenada”, back up singers “amazing grace”

  15. …I believe John Farnham did try the American music industry, however was rejected because he didn’t fit into one particular music genre!!??
Selfishly I’m glad, because we Aussies got to keep him and enjoy so many of his phenomenal concerts here in Australia for 50+ years!!!👌👍👏👏👏🎶🎶

  16. We had the traditional mullet in Aus as well. We just improved it, lol. P.S.: Brian Johnson wasn't the first, or best, lead singer of ACDC, and not the lead singer for this song. Have you not heard of Bon Scott – Legend!!
