5800x3d is $70 more than the 5600x3d as of today. I bought the 5600x3d because of the bundle they have for $300

So it comes down to what Microcenter want to charge those lucky enough to even get the choice. Looks like the 5600X3D can be a great penny-pincher though. For the price of the 2 cores in productivity usage, you can scoop out more gaming performance per dollar against the 5800X3D.

Should do a hard cap chart for budget oriented builders. 100, 120 or 144fps max and no meaningless +20% buffs for the average. 200vs300fps is even more meaningless than 4k data.
I have no interest in the 5600X3D.

i7-12700K and i5-13600K are still faster than both on everything. Zen 3 architecture doesn't stand a chance against Alder Lake, Raptor Lake and Zen 4.
Ryzen 9 5900X should be added to these comparisons, it's aging like fine wine.
A Ryzen 7600X3D would make way more sense than this but oh well…

The 5600X3D is a better choice than the 5800X3D for anyone who's mainly gaming, around $60 less for about 95% of the gaming performance of a 5800X3D. The 5800X3D has never gone below $280 at Microcenter either, (currently $299), making the 5600X3D even more compelling.
2023-8-25 the 5800X3D is $299 at MC and $291 at Amazon, and at MC you can get the 5600X3D in a bundle for $299 with a B550 and 16GB of RAM. Seems like not a bad deal to me.
I got the 5600X3D with a motherboard and 32GB or DDR4 RAM for $210 my dude. It isn’t the CPU that’s priced at an incredible value, it’s the combos they put together to clear out old stock of AM4 motherboards and DDR4 memory.
But if you are just in the market for a CPU…don’t buy it because it offers little value in comparison to the 8 core sibling. But if you are upgrading your whole platform….it’s like a limp d1<k, you can’t beat it.
Some swings in pricing since the video was made.
Looking at Microcenter on 8/25/03 the 5600X3D is $229.98, while the 5800X is back up at $299.99. so a $70 USD difference.
But yeah, 5600X numbers would be really useful, as the 5600X is just $155.98, so it'd be very telling to see if the 3DVcache is worth a $75 USD premium, as well as see if the 5800X3D is actually worth almost double the cost of the 5600X.
Still, appreciative of the work put in.
Does the 5800x3d bottlenecks a 4080?
The 5800x3D is now listed at $299.99 at Micro Center. That lower price was a quick sale during a store opening event most likely. For 299.99 you can get a 5600x3D, B550 motherboard, and 16 GB DDR4-3200 CL 18 RAM.
Are you sure that 5600x3d is a defective 5800x3d? Additional cache is added as a separate production process, so only working chips should be allowed to it/

The 5800x3d is being sold for 300 currently at microcenter. You can buy an entire bundle deal for 300 for the 5600x3d b550 wifi and 16 gb memory. I would have made note of that.
I'm guessing this will be the final video for the AM4 platform, as I can't imagine AMD will release another CPU for that architecture.
They will probably sell it as a combo with ram and cheap mobo, or plonk it in some prebuilds.
I have the Ryzen 5 5600G and it seems to run faster than the other G series chips at its base core (@3.9GHz)… On the top end…while not the best…it's still in the running… Unless I overclock the tiniest bit…I don't see that much of a difference between the 5600/5600G/5600X/5600X3D…except the base running clocks on the non G series run slightly slower…
As more of a production guy than a gamer…and running Linux… It seems to do very well…if a cat doesn't knock my monitor over again…
I have Ryzen 5 5600 on b350 motherboard. I have ordered 7900 xtx to play on 4k LG c1 oled. Is it better for me to stick to this CPU, upgrade to Ryzen 5 5800x3d or change platform to AM5, Ryzen 7 7800x3d?
Just upgraded from a 2600 to a 5600x3d a few weeks ago. Mostly got it over the 5800x3d because it was a little bit cheaper, had around the same performance in gaming which is all i really care about, and also the power draw is lower, which is important to me cause i have a SFF case with not a lot of room for a large CPU cooler. One of the tests you didn't seem to have run, which ended up being one of the most important reasons why i chose the 5600x3d over the 5800x3d.

Long story short: no difference in 4k at all.
Anyone who has 5600x, is not worth going to the 5600x3d, i mean, 5800x3d has 2 more cores and 4 threads + the 3dvcache as well… it's like getting out of a r7 5700x to a 5800x, will be much better if u only go to the 5800x3d (which is the best upgrade path when we talk about games).
Of course that's my opinion, but i just think if u have a 5600x then you're good. It's more worth upgrading cores + cache than only cache

5800x3d is still $300 at microcenter. You can buy the 5600x3d in a bundle with 16gb ram and a asus Tuf b550 motherboard for the same $300. I've only seen the 5800x3d for discounted for $280 plus an additional $20 off if you bundle with an eligible motherboard. But at this point, if you are buying a new motherboard and such for the 5800x3d, you might as well splurge and go am5 with a 7800x3d.

That $260 5800X3D was a one day flash sale, the next day it was $309, ten dollars more than before the "sale". By the time consumers get to the store the price is more than before the sale. Many consumers will buy it anyway having made the trip. Microcenter gets away with all kinds of scams like this being an in store retailer only but, you can burn them if you live real close and can get there fast. Good work as always Steve.
Hey one of the lucky people that gets to live 20-30 minutes from a microcenter here. One thing that they do that keeps them competitive is their combo deals. Currently at microcenter you can get the 5600X3D + ASUS TUF B550 Plus WiFi II + G.Skill Ripjaws V 16GB 3200 CL16 for $299.99 USD. With the 5800X3D at $289.99 USD with no combo currently available, I could see the 5600X3D making sense for some people. Then again for $100 USD more you can get a 7700X + MSI B650-P Pro WiFi + G.Skill Flare X5 32GB 6000 CL36. Still if I were looking at the 5600X3D vs the 5800X3D, I’d get the 5600X3D since I’d get more for my money with the combo deal.
