Am I a troublemaker for going to my ex’s gallery opening looking sophisticated? My ex and I had an amicable separation, and we co-parent our son effectively. He’s now with Vanessa, a woman I have great respect for. She’s wonderful with our son and seems to make my ex genuinely happy. I was invited to their gallery opening and was glad to attend. Upon my arrival, Vanessa thanked me for coming but quickly dismissed me. I informed her that I planned to stay for the entire event, which upset her. She hadn’t anticipated my actual attendance. When she asked me to leave, I stood my ground. She complained about my outfit, suggesting it was too stylish. My ex and his brother diffused the situation, but the opening went on with noticeable tension.
