  1. Rinny, you have always been my favorite pro athlete, I have watched every KONA race you have been in. I always hoped that I would make it and be able to say I had the opportunity to be on the start line with you. I just qualified for a Legacy spot! I can’t wait to hit the big island but it will not be this year, sadly.
Congrats on all your accomplishments! Especially, Izzy and Finn, enjoy every moment and congrats!

  2. This video made me sad. This decision doesn't sound like an easy one to make. I hope you don't give up triathlon completely. Maybe just slow it down for now or compete in shorter events. I am excited to see you race at Santa Cruz 70.3! My husband and I are racing!

  3. You have had a great career. Being a mom is the best blessing in the world and u stepping aside to enjoy the moments with your kids is the best decision. They are a special gift and do grow so fast. Enjoy every moment with them and good luck to Tim!

  4. I have loved following your incredible triathlon career! You are an amazing athlete and have inspired me so much. You and Tim have such a special family and choosing to be present with your family is never the wrong decision. It’s definitely challenging even for an age grouper with kids that have active and busy lives so cannot imagine how hard it is for a pro. I’m sure that you will still be a big part of triathlon and I can’t wait to see what comes next. Wish you all the best and thank for all you’ve done for the triathlon community.

  5. Great self/family actualization Rinny! Your Tenaciousness will be missed at Kona, as a Great Kona Sage stated, very few win Kona and those that do have tenacity all others are "DOUBTERS", like point in case the American Chelsea S. Newly parent but still selfish to want to win KONA, states that the European Ladies are "too nice". little does she know she herself has NO TENACITY and will never come even close in winning Kona. GG! You should become a Coach on-line and have camps. You would be an Amazing Coach!! All Da Best!! GG!

  6. No matter what you do rinny you are awesome triathlete even if you decide to hang up your shoes and retire you still can race as a age grouper and have fun I definitely think you have one more good Kona in you to do reach out to your family and friends to help out with the kids while you training for one more kona

  7. It is often under stated the mental struggles athletes go through when facing the end of their careers. Please take care of your mental health, surround yourself with good people, and people who have been there before you to give you an insight to the reality. You have been living in the "sporting bubble" for a long time, the other side can appear scary. You will be fine, best wishes.

  8. As a father of four children, 2 of them twin boys, I realized that after trying to train excessively over and over again, I kept drilling myself into the ground. After finding the right balance, I realized I was trying to find an identity in my achievements. Now I’m just a dad, and happy!
