So hard…but the right decision! Bless you all, and best of luck to TO in Kona!
Rinny, you have always been my favorite pro athlete, I have watched every KONA race you have been in. I always hoped that I would make it and be able to say I had the opportunity to be on the start line with you. I just qualified for a Legacy spot! I can’t wait to hit the big island but it will not be this year, sadly.
Congrats on all your accomplishments! Especially, Izzy and Finn, enjoy every moment and congrats!
Thanks for sharing what was no doubt a difficult decision. Admiring you and your family wherever your journeys take you.
Amazing! Always a champ!
What great parents and supportive partner. Kids are the biggest blessing in life. You rock!
This video made me sad. This decision doesn't sound like an easy one to make. I hope you don't give up triathlon completely. Maybe just slow it down for now or compete in shorter events. I am excited to see you race at Santa Cruz 70.3! My husband and I are racing!
UGHHHH! So Hard to take-. My wife and I have followed you since 2010! But very understandable-
From rockstar triathlete to rockstar Mom! So sad not to be able to see you at Kona but have huge respect for your desire to be the absolute best parent possible!
You have had a great career. Being a mom is the best blessing in the world and u stepping aside to enjoy the moments with your kids is the best decision. They are a special gift and do grow so fast. Enjoy every moment with them and good luck to Tim!
You are a great athlete, Mum, person! You will have a wonderful life.
Best to you, Tim and the kids, Rinny. Great athletes! Even better humans! 🤙🏻
I have loved following your incredible triathlon career! You are an amazing athlete and have inspired me so much. You and Tim have such a special family and choosing to be present with your family is never the wrong decision. It’s definitely challenging even for an age grouper with kids that have active and busy lives so cannot imagine how hard it is for a pro. I’m sure that you will still be a big part of triathlon and I can’t wait to see what comes next. Wish you all the best and thank for all you’ve done for the triathlon community.
Family is always first! Thank you for all u have done for the sport and we know you are far from finished!
Great self/family actualization Rinny! Your Tenaciousness will be missed at Kona, as a Great Kona Sage stated, very few win Kona and those that do have tenacity all others are "DOUBTERS", like point in case the American Chelsea S. Newly parent but still selfish to want to win KONA, states that the European Ladies are "too nice". little does she know she herself has NO TENACITY and will never come even close in winning Kona. GG! You should become a Coach on-line and have camps. You would be an Amazing Coach!! All Da Best!! GG!
Go win the undie run!
No matter what you do rinny you are awesome triathlete even if you decide to hang up your shoes and retire you still can race as a age grouper and have fun I definitely think you have one more good Kona in you to do reach out to your family and friends to help out with the kids while you training for one more kona
Super triathlete, but more importantly super wide and mom! Soak up the Big Island fun in a new and different way!
Aww thank you for your vulnerability and sharing.
You're both great parents. It's been a joy to watch your family grow through your YouTube channel over the last 5-6 years!
I've been a huge fan since rev3 quassy. Always a champ, rock on!
It is often under stated the mental struggles athletes go through when facing the end of their careers. Please take care of your mental health, surround yourself with good people, and people who have been there before you to give you an insight to the reality. You have been living in the "sporting bubble" for a long time, the other side can appear scary. You will be fine, best wishes.
Congratulations on a great career and I guess you can do the odd 70.3 here and there for fun going forward
Smart decision, this two beauty will grew so fast, enjoy it! You are already Kona legend 😉
Keep inspiring! 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Respect!
Mad respect, for your career and life choices now. Fully relate to this. Nice to hear it from another woman I look up to.
As a father of four children, 2 of them twin boys, I realized that after trying to train excessively over and over again, I kept drilling myself into the ground. After finding the right balance, I realized I was trying to find an identity in my achievements. Now I’m just a dad, and happy!
