As someone trained in evolutionary biology and developmental genomics, the original book is honestly really funny because I can kind of tell what classic example of evolutionary studies each species took inspiration from. Bone crushers and fliers are like the classic Darwin's finches, swimmers are obviously inspired by marine mammals like dolphins and orcas, temptors could be any number of eusocial insects, and I'm so sad the mention of parasites was only constrained to the one planet because the temptors would have 100% had a full ecosystem of inquiline or temporary brood parasites. It would have been fucking rad.
I'm not putting down Kösemen! Those are honestly really good places to look for inspiration. And I'll admit it's fun to recognize where the author's ideas may have come from. And crucially, the logic behind their transformations over time always makes sense from an evolutionary standpoint; the mantelopes lose their artificially highly developed brains because grazing herd animals truly do not need complex reasoning, it's why you'll never in a million years see a horse writing poetry. Seriously, almost always, the niche the post-humans' adaptations begin to fill makes perfect sense.
The fanfiction is unfortunately not written by Kösemen. The "alternate universes" here are fun, but they don't make nearly as much sense from a developmental perspective. It's kind of a shame.
random alien world idea all land is in a massive ring with massive lake in the middle that every society/civilisation thinks is an ocean that lasts forever when in actual fact it just goes to the other side of the ring world
didn't the Titans already have much higher intellect than normal and have giant buildings and developed agriculture. With the re-emergence of language? did they even read the book they based on at all?
For me, all tomorrow sort of fufils my needs for awnsers. I'm only in middle school, but I'm already frustraded I cant study everything in the entire universe. I can't research the past of my planet, or even life forms on other planets. I can't learn anything of the far out cosmos. How could a sentient species exist outside of our understanding? Could they communicate in other ways? is their technoligy different? so many questions! but I'm not some benevolent god looking over the universe, unable to have all information at my fingertips and tweaking history on a whim. Forgetable and useless
I wonder how would the storyline change with the mantalope and spacers being in symbiosis since the spacers or aestromorphs are one of the most important characters since they defeated gravitals and qu in the main story
I think All Tomorrows is great because, well, it's only scary to us. These creatures in the book find themselves completely normal, with no memory of the world we live in because it was billions of eons ago.
What in the goatse is this that I stumbled into?!?
That was the most comically placed sponsor I've ever seen
