  1. One thing that's kinda funny and also a bit sad… From what I've seen people dislike Park for being a "bad person". But from what the game tells us, yes, she's absolutely not a straight up good person, but she also has a believable past that made her who she is, and she also has a lot of good qualities. I genuinely think she cares about Haruka like the daughter she never had, and probably could have felt the same way about the other girls her agency used to have.

So she's a very multifaceted character with both good and bad sides. You know who's also a very multifaceted character with both really bad and good sides? Majima. And people love him!
Cause let's be serious, Majima's done some fucked up shit. Yet we still love the bastard.

And here's the sad side of this whole thing… why is it that when it's a guy we are very quick to forgive the bad side for the good? But when it's a woman, we ignore the good and focus on the bad? I don't know if this is what's really going on here… But it really feels like it could be. Just food for thoughts.

  2. Ok so I really don’t like Park-san very much but I can see that she does care about Haruka atlist enough to trust that pens safety to her, I feel like she knew someone was trying to get it from her so she past it on so that what ever she has in that safe will be given to the EX-Husband or who ever it it is she might have told the truth but personally it’s hard to trust her.

I do think that she was killed because of it they didn’t get what they wanted in the end, since she didn’t have it on her person but I feel like it’s going to get more dangerous for Haruka in her next chapter whene ever that might be 😅 also it’s chilly where I live in the moment so am with you Akiyama 😂

  3. I feel like they made Park too much of a hardass, tbh. I still disliked her at this point in the game,w hen I'm clearly supposed to like her, because of her scenes earlier. It feels like they made her too much of a bitch and then had to backpedal hard to make her likable before her death.

  4. Oh, BTW Nico, the thing about Park being forced to use her right hand even though she's left-handed is not an uncommon practice by some families unfortunately. This practice is mainly an Asian thing due to the fact that etiquette is front and center. One of the things they were taught is that left hand usage is "unclean" since you wash your ass with your left hand and eat with your right. Other cultures believe being left handed was "unlucky" or worse, "evil". Hell, the word that describes being proficient with both hands, "ambidextrous" literally means having two right hands.

  5. I’m shocked you didn’t pick up the death flags park-San was drowning in there. I could feel something awful was gonna happen. Guess we shall see who killed her cause I don’t think she killed herself. She knew her life was in danger I think and maybe that’s why she gave haruka the pen. Hm…

Citing an archived promotional video of the collaboration between Tatsuya Kawagoe and Yakuza 5 regarding this specific menu item, Kawagoe said, "The Teruka in Baumkuchen is my mother's name. She was a good cook, and even though her cooking was simple, I thought her food was delicious even as a child." He revealed, "I haven't told my mother (about making the menu items) and haven't gotten permission yet."

The 3 restaurants you visit each time for his sidequests are *always* ones that exist in real life (you'll see them properly listed in the credits).

However, the ones that feature the new dishes, like Montblanc Coffee in this case, are purely fictional establishments.

For a decent baumkuchen experience irl Osaka though, *Madame Shinco* would be a good pick.

Kawagoe may not appear on TV these days, and the restaurant he ran may have closed back in 2017 (possibly due to the whole ¥800 water thing) but he's definitely still in business selling collaboration kitchenwares, and more recently he partnered with a farm in Miyazaki to sell seasonal farm-fresh vegetables online.

  7. Two episodes back Nico was wondering: AM I REALLY GONNA BEAT UP DUDES WITH HARUKA?!
This episode's comedy stand up minigame confirmed: Yes….Yes you will xD

  8. I haven't played this game and am only experiencing it through Nico, but I personally fucking love Park-san.
Complex female characters aren't something we get a lot of Yakuza, so I'm appreciating her a lot tbh.
But I'm also being reminded how little personality Haruka has. I've seen people comment that Haruka wanted Kiryu to say no because she didnt want to become and idol, and others who say its her dream. And the truth is that we don't know because Haruka has always been a prop foremost, someone pure and cute to save and take care of. Even her she has little to no agency. I have no idea if she dislikes or likes her work, if she wanted to become and idol or not, because her only real traits are Pure and Cute, and loves Kiryu.
So I kinda hope the game takes this opportunity to actually develop Haruka a little, because right now I find her pretty boring tbh.

btw, I just realised the thumbnails are colour-coded to their characters! That's cool 🙂

  9. I’m blind like Nico on this game, but even though I can see why people might have disliked Park’s character at first, after this episode her behavior and motivations are made pretty clear so I’m fine with it tbh. Can’t imagine how difficult it is to have all your dreams crushed in that manner.
