  1. personally i think all instances of low chance status effects like paralysis from thunder or freeze from ice beam should be removed from the game. the rng that it introduces as a bail out mechanic is too frustrating to have happen to you and not consistent enough to really plan around as the user. i cant tell u how many games i’ve lost from an advantageous position off of a 10% freeze or fire punch burn

  2. I'm one of the guys who organized all the buffs and nerfs, and i also want to point out that Zarude did lost Darkest Lariat and still doesn't get Knock Off nor Sucker Punch (time to run Crunch now)
Drednaw also lost High Horsepower (for doubles), Megahorn, and Superpower too

    again, better late than never

  3. My main concern this gen is giving damn near everything hazards in some way or another, and defog being taken away from damn near everything 🤣 hopefully like you said they add more moves that remove hazards and give rapid spin to a couple more mons that should have it.
Also kinda bummed Knock Off is taken away from a lot of mons

  4. I might be over-generalizing again, but these changes seem to be GF's way of evening out the grind/requirements to enter the competitive scene among all players.

Almost none of these tweaks affect us as competitive players, because we're going to just continue to do what we do; regardless of the hurdles. This is our life. It's been our life for years.

But new players and casual players. First timers, possibly first time returning players from Generation 8 (3 games this time around instead of the usual 2). Removing the time consuming hurdles, and the highest impact moves/abilities from the last few generations would, in theory, encourage less experienced players to feel more comfortable pursuing higher level play.

While I'm kind of salty that 15+ years of honing my craft with the Masuda Method is basically worthless; I'm also really excited to think that my friends might want to play with me again. Since they won't have to spend 20+ hours to get a single PKMN that compete with mine.🤣

  5. I personally don't care for singles (at all) but hearing your thoughts on the changes in general was still really interesting – as expected.

If you want to focus on singles content for a while I wish you both good luck and lots of fun, I'll come back to watch any future VGC content afterwards! 🙂

  6. It isn't true that moves are being removed upon transfer. Well really we have no clue. There's no actual information backing it up and Centro was making assumptions. It could happen but for now it's a assumption. Also there's some information on Eviolite you won't like. It hasn't changed.

  7. Honestly W after W with these changes. I'm not super happy about the changes to Krookadile, but I will wait and see how it all plays out. Agreed about the addition of rocks on Quag being a bit questionable… but also to your point, made later in the video, there probably will be more hazard removal options this gen… so even that might work out a tiny bit.

  8. @thatsaplusone:- if the ladder doesn't go live until some time in December, it makes sense given that alot of players will be getting the game for Christmas etc. Also, that being the case, will you be doing ranked content on SWSH until the ladder is available?

  9. I just wish they would balance the game throughout its 3 year cycle like every other competitive game does instead of only doing it when a new comes out, give nerfs and buffs every season.

  10. If I'm understanding this correctly, this will be like in BDSP when we finally got rid of toxic on every pokemon that shouldn't have it in the first place. And if pokemon home works as I think with the BDSP version, it seems when you import your pokémon to the new game, it will not keep all it's oves but instead give it a new legal movepool obtainable in game. This is really cool, because I remember in SWSH if you played ranked your pokemon had to have a legal movepool, but if you played on the casual ladder you could run into aegislash with toxic, teleport blissey etc…

If this assumption is correct I'm really excited to have a new and fresh meta, and to have a level playing field.
Definitely gonna grind some OU tier a lot. BDSP already put me back in this tier

  11. Scald in general was too "strong". Combining Water move + burn was a bad idea in general. Only fire is immune to burn, yet weak to water.

Protean/Libero nerfs were not justified. I agree that these abilities on the wrong mons become problematic, but the emphasis lies on "wrong" mons.
Kecleon never was too strong with that ability. They should have simply removed it from Greninja/Cinderace.

  12. Completely disagree with what you said as far as the removal of legacy moves exposing good from bad players.

I actually started playing Pokémon again when let’s go came out. But have played competitive singles for awhile on showdown prior to my return to cartridge.

I went back and bought a copy of each version from the past, had my first journey through regions I previously skipped. Wow what an amazing time.

These Pokémon are like trophy’s, memories, bragging rights, and even better if they are viable competitively. I actually put so much time in to my journey, I built a competitive living dex with each Pokémon coming from their native regions. Like kanto charizard or hoenn blaziken as example. And I did this for the entire Pokédex all 905. Some had legacy moves and some didn’t, but to just flat out have it revoked so it can “balance” for everyone is crazy.

I spent thousands of hours on each console and each cartridge, and should be allowed to use what I have worked for. For those who have events that no longer exist it’s the same principle, it is supposed to be exclusive, they should be allowed to use it.

At that point just stop all transfers in, no need for home anymore just catch what’s in the game 😢
