All Assassin's Creed Protagonists Ranked

Since people were asking about it, I decided to make a ranking video for all the main protagonists in the Assassin’s Creed series. This is much more subjective than the settings ranking I did and I know everyone has a different favorite, so let me know your list in the comments below.

  1. I have played all the games except Valhalla and Liberation. I can confidently say your top 3 are mine as well. Edward and AC4 are still my ultimate favorite games and I remember the ending so vividly the most to this day than I have any other AC game to date.

I remembered being so surprised when I started to tear up at the end and to realize how much I truly loved AC4 and Edward, even over AC2, ACB, and ACR with Ezio. It truly was a great character journey. It's a shame how Edward eventually died and how Haytham ended up 😞

  2. 2:51 this point is genuinely trash. Kassandra is by far the least developed and most empty-feeling protagonist because the dialogue options and the choices themselves are so different from one another that she doesn’t have a consistent set of characteristics that will be present in each playthrough of odyssey. For example, in one side quest you could choose to kill the natives of an island that were displaced by an army you’re aiding and in another you could be soothing a kid who had lost her mother, it doesn’t make sense. At the very least Eivor has set characteristics that will be present in each and every playthrough of Valhalla. In each and every playthrough Eivor will be: loyal to her clan, benevolent (shown by how she treated an orphan that stole from her) and even use her words to win over allies instead of mindlessly using violence to do so.

In addition, Arno isn’t much better than Eivor simply due to the fact that he doesn’t ever develop as a character until the DLC. He didn’t care about the assassin’s ideology he only joined them because they provided him with training and weapons. Only in his ending speech (after Elise died, arguably because of him) does he show any development as a character. Only problem is that the development wasn’t ever built up throughout the main story. Although, the dead kings dlc did provide some build up for the ending speech (providing that it was between Elise’s death and the ending speech). Either way, Arno doesn’t really deserve to be that high on the list, in my opinion.

Needless to say, I highly disagree with your list, but this video is still fairly entertaining. Good job 👍.

  3. Here’s my list

11th-kassandra (poorly written and very unfunny)

10th-Jacob (I don’t like his humor at all)

9th-eivor (if more scenes where like the campfire scene, she would be much higher)

8th-Evie (I find her kinda boring but she has so much potential to be much more interesting)

7th- Connor (he is likable in the side missions but he’s so childish in the main story)

6th – Shay (I actually found him very interesting and likeable. I wish the main story was better though)

5th – Arno (I actually really like his cynical sarcastic attitude but in the middle of the story, he gets boring. He could be higher if the story was better)

4th Altair (his redemption arc is actually really well done and he deserves the love he gets)

3rd Edward (like Altair but more likable and better written)

2nd Bayek (he is probably the most human character with many complex emotions and traits. He’s a caring man but a brutal killer when needs too. If he had 3 games, he could be better than ezio)

1- Ezio (do I have to explain?)

  4. Though hes not my favourite Ive always really liked Shay because hes pushed further than any other character in the series I think. You really feel like hes up against a wall with no allies or security, but chooses to push forward anyway going against all he stood for, for the sake of doing what he believed was right above what he wanted. He constantly questions if hes made the right choices and constantly wonders if theres any hope of going back. His regret over having to do what hes done but his unwavering conviction in acknowledging he HAD to do it made him a lot more unique and introspective than all but a few

  5. While i highly disagree with putting Kassandra and Jacob above any place but the last (i personally cannot stand the way Ubi Toronto writes it's characters), i was very surprised that someone other then me likes Edward more then Ezio. And your video motivated me to give Origins a try, no idea how it went above my head for so many years but Bayek's line delivery is amazing, gonna play the game just for him
    P.S
Really good video, thanks for it! Definetly hyped for new ones, with your delivery everything sounds exciting

  6. I'm loving the videos you're putting out. I love AC Liberation, but you hit the nail on the head: so much potential to explore the intersectional gender-/racial-/class- themes at play, but it ends up jumping around in a weirdly-paced surface level story.

  7. To be honest, I wish that Shay and Arno's story get expanded. Ubisoft clearly missed the opportunity to put a nice conclusion to both of their stories, especially how they set up that Shay killed Arno's father. Shay is a perfect guy to set up as a final boss for Arno to overcome.

Before Shay's fans come here and say things like "no, Shay is a good guy so why we have to kill him", calm down. The conflict between them can be set up in a morally grey area, where both the Assassins and the Templars have the own reasons for their actions. Eventually, the last boss fight will be between Arno and Shay, and Shay will question Arno about his conviction and morality. At the end of the boss fight, Arno will not kill Shay since Arno now understand his opponent's point of view, but Arno still continue to believe in the Assassin's way to make a better world.

To make each side seems more balanced, Shay is now an old man so he is not at his peak physic, but he is now an experienced high-ranking Templars with powerful allies and well-trained soldiers specialized in counter-assassin tactics; while Arno is still at his youth, he lacks experiences compared to Shay, so he will get supported by the allies he makes throughout the game (Connor can even appear as a support character and help Arno).

  8. Yeah I too like that Edward is funny without being silly, in fact all these characters should stop being so silly, you are in a game series about assassination (which is why i dont really like Ezio in his first game, he started getting serious from his second game on tho)

  9. My personal favorites were Edzio, Aveline de Grandpré & Arno, I hope Mirage is going to be any good but AC & Ubisoft in general has been pure trash for many years now. Personally I consider Unity to have been the last real AC, Origins was a good game but not an AC game; OhTheShite & Valcrappia are abominations of the highest order (truly despise those).
