Remember he said Door was hit by lighting and disappear in 1988? So was/is he the dark presence or connected to it? Spokesman?
EDIT : The "eye" he gave to Mimir I think was "spiritual" and he just wore and eyepatch. HENCE when he lost the right eye, he just switched the eye-patch over. He never physically lost his left eye? However I just noticed, it was Chapter 7 … so possible that didn't happen yet? Even though it says 1988?
You can watch almost the whole movie a wee bit later Jesse. With sound and everything, I had no idea what the hell was going on in it really, but I was completely fascinated none the less. And I think that it is actually Alan changing tom's history in the second game that somehow changing him from a poet to the filmmaker would have a part in his escaping from the dark place. And I don't think Tom created Alan but I do think he is the reason Alan is an author and why he had nightmares as a kid. Tom was reaching out to him even then, imagine how much that would mess a kid up? But tom had to inspire Alan so to speak…
Ok so I was wrong about Logan writing the lunchboxes, pretty good guess though. I still have a feeling Logan DID drown but she's in the dark place.
Am I crazy, or do the generator pull sounds resemble the light switch sounds from Control? It's like the Control sound is layered under the generator sound.
She's talking about ALAN but writing TOM. TOM=ALAN
35:34 is my FAVORITE thing ever, cuz you know that’s Mr. Door. Also he gets talked about in reference to Thresholds which is both a door term and a FBC term for other realities.
Alan can't create people because HE is a creation of Tom. I think Tom like Jesse said is so "higher up" or the first creator to get into the dark place? 1988ish right? So he had lots of time to learn how to create people from nothing in the real world?
My primary takeaway from watching these without having played Control or Alan Wake is that now I'm a diehard Old Gods of Asgard fan their music is SO GOOD.
"there is no right answer at the moment, sadly" Jesse the RIGHT answer is that Alan can't write anything into existence, he can only use things that already exist. Tom didn't "create" Alan, he maybe influenced him heavily for his own purposes but the interaction between art and Cauldron Lake is that nothing that wasn't already a real thing in some way can just be created. EDIT: and 3 seconds after I resume watching Jesse acknowledges this, even though that's not what he was saying earlier lmfao
I swear to god, the biggest unanswered questions I have about this game are about the Tom the Poet/Tom the Filmmaker divergence. I’ve beaten the game and I ain’t a slouch when it comes to Lore, and I STILL don’t have a straight answer on that shit. Thomas Zane is the biggest fucking question mark to me, at least we learn enough about Mr. Door considering how much he’s in the game and impacts the story, but Zane is ALL OVER THIS SHIT. Like I love it, don’t get me wrong, but seriously. Who. The Fuck. Is Tom Zane?
the cynthia fight was definitely one of the glitchiest boss fights ive played
googles “Yötön yö” is a Finnish phrase which literally means “nightless night.” oh, cool!
I feel bad for poor Cynthia. She spent years guarding the town and tending to the well-lit room, and when she finally gets a chance to step down, just gets taken.
The old folks are safe out on that porch because it has a strong light shining down, Ahti told them it was safe to stay there, he steals fuses to make sure those specific lights do NOT go out.
“Always poking people with his hammer” sounds like a euphemism, but for Thor it makes sense
Tors battlevest has a poets of the fall patch, that's delightfully meta.
I love the mention of Puerto Rico 49:13
Cant wait to see how all this ends 🎉 thanks Jesse I've enjoyed the playthrough so far
Is Alan the liar because he's… actually Tom, who rewrote himself in a new role and he's been lying to himself and everyone else?
Never really got into Remedy games(enjoyed a bit of Control but bounced off)
Jesse, you putting together all of these pieces makes me want to go back and play all of them! So interesting, and watching you work through everything has been a joy to watch! Thank you!
