Sara Adar is an Associate Professor and Associate Chair of Epidemiology at the University of Michigan. Her research focuses on the human health effects of air pollution, with a growing interest in studying intervention strategies to reduce exposures and improve health. Dr. Adar’s research contributions have been recognized with awards from the American Heart Association, the International Society for Environmental Epidemiology, and the National Institutes of Environmental Health Science. Her teaching was recognized by an Excellence in Teaching Award from the University of Michigan School of Public Health. Previously, Dr. Adar has served as an expert panelist for the EPA in setting their National Ambient Air Quality Standards and an elected member of the executive council of the International Society for Environmental Epidemiology. Currently, she is an associate editor at Environmental Health Perspectives and a member of the Health Effects Institute Review Committee.
