Air New Zealand diverts plane to Brisbane to pick up NZ PM and business delegation

Air New Zealand is diverting an Auckland to Tokyo flight via Brisbane to pick up a business delegation.

The group was travelling with New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon when they became stranded in Papua New Guinea.

โ€œItโ€™s pretty complex operationally,โ€ Air New Zealand Chief Executive Greg Foran said.

โ€œWe have some advantage in that weโ€™ve got a fleet of 100 planes, so we can move things around.

โ€œItโ€™s good that we can help out.โ€

  1. Watch an absolute joke. New Zealand is fast becoming the โ€˜third worldโ€™ the same thing happened during the ASEAN summit Melbourne in March. The NZ PM was a day late and miss critical meetings. Thatโ€™s why world leaders laugh when NZ talks about becoming more involved in global policy development. No one including Australiaโ€™s Political class takes them seriously anymore.

  3. Total media beat up! This 757 only blew a couple of fuzes. Nothing spectacular.RNZAF should just buy a pair of Falcon 50 EX executive jets for VIP operations at about $3-5m apiece. In 2023 RNZAF spent only $961,477 on maintaining two 757s. Maybe lack of maintenance is the real issue?

  4. So these moron politicians had to fly with the peasant's (twice). If they stop rorting the system and stop giving themselves pay rises they they could throw some money to the air force to fix planes properly without having to fix with Speed tape.๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ
