For the nodes or adventuring places, could we get the fog of war or exploration aspect back from the first Age of Wonders? In some ways it was a bit easy because it scattered the enemies a lot so it was easier to clear, but it was also just kind of cool to really navigate and explore a monster lair or something, instead of it just being a bit of a backdrop to a plain tactical combat map.
One thing I'm also noticing here is how much elevation there is on the world map. It's almost like you guys aren't Dutch anymore, so much elevation. Is that purely a visual aspect or does it also affect say, vision range and movement point usage (like higher vision range when you're high up and less movement point usage when going downhill compared to climbing up)?
I'm also really curious to the modding tools. I've modded quite a bit in Age of Wonders 3, I'd love to see if we can add our own tactical combat maps or player-made animations for units
The lack of views is mindboggling.
This looks gorgeous, and the world map seems to be more alive compared to the previous entries of the series. I can't wait to see the full release of the game. One of the thing I hope for is it to be more balanced than AoW 3 was between the tier of units. AoW: Planetfall was better in that regard, because the core units was still useful in late game. But AoW: Planetfall was more bland in the overall feel of the world map and city development than AoW 3 was.
