Against All Odds: Dak & The Dallas Cowboys' Resilient Performance

It’s been a roller coaster first six games for the Cowboys, one that’s now seen them blowout three teams — two in historic fashion — but having also suffered a blowout loss before recovering to take a 20-17 victory in Los Angeles.

For his part, head coach Mike McCarthy says he isn’t afraid to ride roller coasters.

“Well, I mean, roller coaster rides are fun,” said McCarthy as the Cowboys prepare to enter their much-needed bye week. “You’ve got to look at the high points, too. … It all gives you a chance to learn.”

And learn they have, but learn they must continue to do, as both the past and the present can certainly serve the evolution into the future. When players return to the facility early next week, they’ll be met with messages from coaches regarding needed improvements to try and get their motor firing on all cylinders.

  1. Yes Akoye I agree 100% bro we drafted micah to play LB. He only played DE because Dlaw was injured and we needed a pass rusher. Right now we need LBs more so micah needs to play LB. Plus why can't he refine his coverage skills and other LB skills like he did for pass rushing?

  2. Akoye what's up Bro! I 100 percent agree with you on RB. I know for sure we miss Zeke and Poland together. We lack a physical presence and physicality in the run game. 4th & one with Zeke was just as effective as the Jalen Hurts push.

  3. Always love your content bro because you're detailed, and I love things being detailed.

I also was one of the few fans who said that TP isn't built to take punishment. But Jerry and Stephen want to play players that they pay, which will get you nowhere.

DQ just needs to put Micah at LB for the rest of the season, and like you articulated that it would make the defense elite.

  4. I think regardless of who the OC or HC was… Dak has limitation and he has a bad habit of shrinking when the opposition is better. He wastes a quarter or two playing scared or too hyped up, missing passes and it costs the team a chance to build the lead. But clearly the big issue for this current iteration of the cowboys is McCarthy and the low margins of the offense. Not going for points, not being aggressive, poor route scheming, forcing looks despite poor personnel (cough Gallup cough), the bad of McCarthy overweighs the bad of dak in my view.

Now the defense looks pretty gettable nowadays. Without Diggs, they just have to target Gillmore who looked like burnt toast in that Chargers game. Herbert had every chance to bury us, just got lucky he floated some balls, or it's an L. Nice to beat Wonder Boy, but even he schemed up a better offense, that just failed in execution.

It's like being stuck in Limbo with these Cowboys teams, because either way you're not going to see a SB.

  5. No offense but at 3:30 … what did Dez do after Dallas? Great career afterwards? Honestly weird to still be beating that drum thinking Dez had something left given the hard evidence. Beasley was Dak's favorite safety blanket, but you can't build an offense with Tiny Tim as your main weapon. Terrence Williams was done after 2016, I think he played for the Tijuana Bandidos after the Cowboys… what a talent. I'm now not even a huge Dak defender, but man that 2017 Cowboys team was cooked.

  6. Akoye, do you think that TP 's struggle is due to being named RB1? What I mean is that could it be a psychological thing where he thinks he has to change his game up since he's a featured back? Hopefully after this bye week he realizes that he has to go back to his strength. Also, how about an early bird film session for all of us who can't stay up that late at night? Lol.
