5 churches in my immediate area have closed in the last year. All progressive mainline Protestant churches.
I know of a Calvary fellowship that pushed back hard against mandates, and also booted attendees because they couldn't subscribe to the inclusion of a pre-mill eschatology on their statement of beliefs. It gets a little muddy sometimes.
Yep, DEFINITELY need more biblical church plants. Tons. With biblically qualified leaders. Praying that God would raise them up.
New Covenant Whole Gospel:
Let us now share the Old Testament Gospel found below with the whole world. On the road to Emmaus He said the Old Testament is about Him.
He is the very Word of God in John 1:1, 14. Awaken Church to this truth.
Jer 31:31 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:
Jer 31:32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by
husband unto them, saith the LORD:
Jer 31:33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.
Jer 31:34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.
Is the most important genealogy in the Bible found in Matthew 1:1 (Gal. 3:16)? Is God's Son the ultimate fulfillment of Israel (John 1:49)? Why has the modern Church done a pitiful job of sharing the Gospel with modern Orthodox Jews? Why would someone tell them they are God's chosen people and then fail to share the Gospel with them? Who is the seed of the woman promised in Genesis 3:15? Who is the "son" in Psalm 2? Who is the "suffering servant" of Isaiah 53? Who would fulfill the New Covenant promised in Jeremiah 31:31-34? Who would fulfill the timeline of Daniel chapter 9 before the second temple was destroyed? Why have we not heard this simple Old Testament Gospel preached on Christian television in the United States on a regular basis?
Once a person comes to understand the New Covenant promised to Israel and Judah in Jeremiah 31:31-34, which is found fulfilled by Christ during the first century in Hebrews 8:6-13, and Hebrews 10:16-18, and specifically applied to the Church in 2 Corinthians 3:6-8, and Hebrews 12:22-24, man-made Bible doctrines fall apart.
Let us now learn to preach the whole Gospel until He comes back. The King of Israel is risen from the dead! (John 1:49, Acts 2:36)
We are not come to Mount Sinai in Hebrews 12:18. We are come instead to the New Covenant church of Mount Zion and the blood in Hebrews 12:22-24.

Nah, I want you to preach to my actual sins because then I'd finally be getting the help I need that I haven't been getting.
I'm learning that many 'reformed' denominations that get around the confessions, do it similar to how the US Government gets around the Constitution: they append them to say what they don't (and in fact speak against) and say it's not an appendage but rather an interpretation…when no additional interpretation is needed. They take years to do studies on things such as human sexuality and race relations and they end up with these watered down documents that all the churches involved have to adhere to.
Saying that we need the church on Sunday and 6 days of nothing is just another of your very unfortunate ideas. Two sermons on Sundays is not taken from the Scriptures but from soke Tradition. If you want to be so up to tradition, then what about Reformers preaching every day?
Sunday is my only day I can take a rest. Dragging my family early morning and then evening to a church is simply a no. I don't need to hear two so-so sermons on Sunday. We need one, but powerful and edifying one. In our church, we meet for so called care groups every other Sunday. Anyone who tells me that studying the Word of God in groups is not necessary during the week is tragically wrong. Tragically wrong. Read the Acts.how often did they meet. Problem with your broadcasting is very often that you assert a lot of your opinions that are not often times based in the Scriptures.

I am a proud active Catholic (at least I was); I noticed this even before 'covid & wokeness' but especially over the past couple of years… I think it's clear that it's government doctrine over church doctrine. The Faith is more important than the parish.
What we need is real Christians. Christians that are like their Master and not like the political fanatics of the world. Here is a word by such a Christian.
There is no sin in the world that God has punished with such severity and detestation than the sin of disobedience. For the sin of idolatry, the Lord sent the sword among his people, but it was never heard that the earth opened and swallowed up any but rebels against authority.
The Bible says that obedience is better even then the particular acts of religion. A man serves God better who follows his rulers in any lawful service than one who refuses to obey instructions on the premise that he must go worship and say his prayers. Why, because rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft.
Obedience and the act of obeying authority is in itself an act of virtue. It is an act of humility, mortification, self denial, love to God, care of the general public, of civil order as well as love to ourselves and love to our neighbor. Like Christ has shown, to be a subject is a greater temporal blessing than being a King. J. Taylor
This is what happens when they think a seminary degree is what qualifies a pastor. We have an influx of so called pastors who are cowardly nerds without a spine. Biblical qualifications > seminary degree

Hey pastor Joel. What is the role of a theological education in pastoring? I was a part of a church started by a man who had little formal theological education and self taught. He had a view that theological education isn't important. As I'm going back to school to get a bachelor's in biblical studies I see some things he had wrong because of having a low view on academics.
I'm so glad MacArthur opened his church when he did. That moment revealed so much about my former pastor. This guy basically used MacArthur for every sermon but when MacArthur opened his church the pastor called MacArthur a hypocrite, greedy, and a conspiracy theorist.
Oh, so you can't whip up the congregants to replace the FOUR people going out the back door of every church for the one 5yo they drag to VBS. So now you think you'll recruit hapless young people to become pastors, waste their time and money in seminary, and find some church to try to manage until the business meeting fires them for not bringing in enough people. Maybe it would be BETTER if you came to the realization that Christianity is on its way out. That you'll keep combining failing congregations who can't pay their pastors and keep the lights on until you reach critical negative mass. And that day can't come one moment too soon.
Covenant Theologians have a caricatured version of dispensationalism in their mind that they knock down: essentially a straw man. They do not know or understand dispensationalism very well but they do understand Covenant Theology very well. MacArthur is not being an inconsistent dispensationalist. This is a very dangerous road to walk on to take a non-essential, difficult theological issue and make it essential and pretend like it's non-controversial. This is merely off-putting to people like me who are convinced by Scripture of a particular view. You cannot shame people into becoming Covenant Theologians. If you can then you can easily shame them back into dispensationalism. If you want to make the case for Covenant Theology, then do so. But doing it in a round about way is not doing anyone any favors.

Can't stand Russell Moore. ERLC was going to have a convention on the right to life and then they last minute changed it to CRT and Racial Reconciliation. He had a panel of pastors talking about "hands up don't shoot" (which bodycam footage from the Michael Brown shooting showed was completely a false narrative) and only one of the pastors dared to mention that part of speaking the truth in love is actually speaking the truth and not a narrative. The whole conference left a sour taste in my mouth since Russell Moore seemed to base his idea that Southern churches are racist on an incident that he experienced as a kid nearly 50 years ago. I was not at all shocked with his stance when Roe v. Wade was overturned, nor was I shocked that he "leaked" the SBC scandal. He's not a theologian, he's a politician with a doxology.
We need born again, spirit filled, called men of God who preach/teach the full counsel of God.
Michael Foster and the CREC in general are not sound teachers IMO.

Different people have different techniques presenting the gospel in truth, but I believe it’s more about planting seeds and letting the Holy Spirit do the work. Thank You for sharing on this topic, this was a very difficult time and a defining time for the church.

Powerful diagnosis. The tyrants are among the sheep. Explains why discipleship is so low in progressive and conservative churches.
But my question is: Why did the Young, Restless and Reformed movement implode and how are the Reformed addressing that moving forward?

You should definitely clip that section where foster describes how authority is like energy and right now it’s just misplaced and the job we have is restoring it back to its rightful biblical place. Good stuff!
