It’s finally time to share another Cities Skylines 2 video! And I’ve learned even more about the game since the last one. But more then that, the game has improved a ton, too! In this Cities Skylines 2 gameplay video, we’ll continue to build Moundsville, which is a city inspired by a real master plan; however, in this episode, Moundsville completely outgrows its plans as we add a ton of density.
But beyond just adding density, we’ll also build some of the grittier parts of the city, including cargo rail and passenger rail infrastructure, a garbage incineration plant, a new solar power plant and battery backup, all of the specialized industries, and MASSIVE suburban expansions. By the end, we’ll add a ton of skyscrapers to the city.
Stick around until after the tour when I’ll give you my completely unvarnished views on the game.
FYI – this is not a sponsored video, but I want to give a huge shout out to @paradoxinteractive and the @CitiesSkylines team for providing me early access to the game!

Going to be upfront here folks and say there is one issue that is not discussed in this one that I'll cover as soon as I can – performance. Stay tuned!
The game looks solid, but the industies are a massive step backwards. Wide empty spaces and weidrly spwaning assets feel really rough, ,ike super early development, not something right around the corner for launch. The Industries DLC may have been divisive, but at least it felt intuative and more involved, and had ploppable assets. I've got to say, it's a major major issue for me.
mods will not be on workshop so lets hope the new way of getting mods will be better the cities 1 to be up front i wish they had workshop but time will tell if they do backflip on it and bring workshop mods back for cities 2 great video know its giving me some tips on how to build my city at launch
Can you imagine if SimCity 2013 had carried on developing for 10 years what it would be like now
17:06 – I believe that line that isn't happy is a passthrough for the main line.
can't wait for the game to be out but where i live we don't see rail crossings maby 1/250 i understand many youtuber does the crossings for time saving and or what they are used to but i'm used til roads under rail or over rail
I wanna play this game so bad. More than Spiderman honestly
The solar plant cannot be placed on a sun facing hillside? Mind-boggling
Honestly, terrible train station and plotting of rail tracks, as well as placing of industries. Too amateur (or American?) given your experience with CS1. 😪
Always love your videos. Thanks for the hours of entertainment and insight and I cant wait for years of CS2 content!
is making a metropolis, or multiple citys growing into one big city, is that part of this game? I live in the wasatch front which is a metropolis, but i cant see something like it being possible in this game. the map size probably wouldn't cover the area of the city i live in, let alone the whole metropolis
How is traffic compared to CS1? Sometimes traffic was annoying to fix, but after a while it became something I actually enjoyed (with mods ofc).
I also assume they will update the specialized industries. Like actually growing crops or show livestock running around. Hopefully buildings that aren't randomly placed in the middle of nowhere, but start from the center and build out or something.
Pew. I am so out of the hype for CS2. I had to endure so many weeks of FOMO watching a small group of privileged and paid influencers playing the game that I am kind of through the hype cycle. This kind of marketing totally turns me off.
So basically your saying its ok to buy a game thats not finished? Wow that suprises me.
Yeah But did you build it on Rock and Roll? Or Rock and Rubble there's a difference.
Where do citizens get gas?
Omg, we need darkmode in this game
31:15 have been thinking about this ability while playing CS1 – I would love to assign schooling or garbage routes to particular neighbourhood districts in my city.
You made my day ❤ different textures on trees based on season… Thank you so much to show this ❤
I'm just a bit worried that we're going to have to buy into 5 DLCs to get the game back up to Cities 1 standards. And that it is by design to milk the playerbase. Other than that I'm sure it's going to be a great successor eventually.
Is the game going to be great ON LAUNCH? or is the game going to be great after 2 years of bug fixes and 10 DLC's from Paradox?
Hello, Realy Nice Video. Wichtig Grafikcard you use ? And which Prozessor?
So, so good! Really looking forward to your tutorial for beginners 🙂
Nothing like another $10,000 worth of DLCs and MODs won't do the trick.
Laugh at me if you'd like, but I REALLY love customization in games. It's something I really care about in regards to cities. I would love if I were able to easily choose the appearance of buildings, stores, houses, and transportation vehicles like ambulances. I know modding is a thing, but I feel like it should be built in, similar to Roller Coaster Tycoon where I should at least be able to choose the default colors/styles of such objects. For example I would love to have a Historic District-looking section that is all red and brick, or maybe pastel-colored like old Bavarian towns. And generally i would love to build a vintage 1930s-looking town and have those types of vehicles in my streets. It's a let-down, in my opinion, that we are forced to only build modern industrial glassy globalist cities without local flair. Anyone else know what I mean?
New subscriber here…just wanted to say that your video quality (script, editing) is amazing!
Can you make a hexagonal city. With safer 3 way intersection. You can't see down other roads unless you stops so you can't speed past it. With 120% intersection. You don't need traffic lights. Hexagonal grids are just great.
Why do I always fall in love with games that have companies obsessed with making DLC rather than making strong base games?😅
being able to delete the tip and all the rubbish is gone is very broken i hope they put in penalties for that or make it not deletable until its all processed.
The part that you talk about the industrie assets that are randomly.spawned and placed, all that would be needed IMO to make a bit better is juste the ability to move them around, you could at least place them where you prefer once they have spawned
Phil, thank you for creating these videos. I have been watching your videos since 2020, and believe it or not, your videos are such a promising therapy for me. These videos help to reduce my depression and make me relax. I am so sorry that I could not join your channel and contribute anything, but thank you so much, and I hope you keep creating this incredible artwork.
The UI looks better than in CS1. Nice!
The lag is horrible!!!
There is so little diversity. You should be able to have hundreds of engineers and architects you get to pick from who have different skills based on their education in school. Need more depth. Same with the number of years workers had on their apprenticeship before they work for your city.
Commercial agriculture professional here: the way they have re-done the farming looks much better!
its not tho ur bought and paid for reviews are saying its lacking so many its sad to see someone like you promote lies
Think i'll wait 3-6 months after release, bugs, performance issues, and grids, why grids, they are so boring.
i still can't believe this game adopted all the modular buildings and the upgrade path from sim city 2013. what a disaster.
HOW ARE YOU DOING THESE NICE TIMELAPSE VIDS WITH WHICH U FIINISHED YOUR VIDEO? great vid
As far as Specialized Industries go, I believe they are already planning a future DLC on that, as it seems a bit raw atm
Pretty sad that a city builder has a 3080 as its recommended specs. City builders and sims are traditionally the most inclusive, accessible, progressive, and diverse genre in the gaming medium. It's pretty telling how fascism has taken hold at Colossal Order and Paradox.
yooooooooo cs2 in 4day
looks like mods will fix all of this. big hype
Is it just me or do the graphics look rough in some way, like flatter or less shading. I feel crazy because I understand its objectively better looking?
Looking forvart to your upcoming content. Do you know something about custom maps? I would love to build my home town.
game is too slow, who has time to build 1 city for 140+ hours lol… Sim City was simpler, less time consuming and looked just as good
143 hours and the game doesn’t come out for another week huh? Interesting
Game seems to be about a year away. Gonna be a rough patchy year for this game.
Mariemont is such a cute little town. I would pass through it going to the Kenwood/tri-county area of Cincinnati! It's very very German looking and really cute. I've heard the residents are rich and kinda snooty though lol
