Addressing the downsides of living in Dubai

Hello! I get asked so many questions about moving to Dubai, and it’s mainly about the negatives people hear from social media and myths of living in Dubai, so I thought I’d do an honest video now I’ve been here for over year about these and my thoughts! I know moving is such a big decision so I hope this helps address these more head on.

Timestamps ⏰:
00:00 Intro
00:48 Moving to Dubai with a Family
01:55 It’s Expensive
02:47 It’s Hard to Make Friends
03:53 Driving here is Insane
04:54 IT’S SO HOTT
06:26 It’s all a BUBBLE
07:59 It’s not going to last the hype around Dubai
10:03 For my regular viewers

I realise I spoke so fast in this video. I’m not feeling too well / I’ve got my Invisalign on and it makes it hard for me to speak 😩 please slow the video down on the settings as it will help.

Everything is purely my perspective and experience 👁️👁️ take it all with a pinch of salt and do your own research. Overall I wanted to share a more balanced view and address these concerns but again for me I don’t see any of these really as negatives 🤪

Also sorry I haven’t been posting for a while. I’ve been so busy and YouTube is something I do on the side for fun! I will try and post more regularly.

  1. Having been to Dubai countless times myself, Dubai is only expensive depending on where you currently live and I will give you an example. I live in Los Angeles, and for me everything in Dubai is cheaper. Food, cars, apartment rentals, gas (for cars), and entertainment. I rent an apartment in the Marina in Dubai for $1800. USD a month. A comparable apartment (1 bedroom) in Los Angeles and NOT on the water or near any water is $2,600. USD. If you want that same apartment say in Marina Del Rey (in L.A.) you better cough up $4,000. a month and both of these would be unfurnished and you wouldn't have the beauty of Dubai surrounding you. Sushi at the marina mall in Dubai was $21. UAE, which is around $7. USD. You can't buy Sushi anywhere in L.A. for less then $25. USD The most expensive things to do in Dubai i would say from past experiences are $65. for a yacht cruise, a helicopter tour of Palm Islands $219. and visiting the Burj Khalifa $55. In Los Angeles, a day trip to Disney Land $219. A day trip to Universal Studios $109. A yacht cruise $149. Gas for cars, $5.19 per gallon. A helicopter tour of Los Angeles $349. Colleges in Los Angeles, UCLA $35,000 a yr. USC, $65,000 a yr. So, there you have it. It all depends on where and how you live currently, when comparing the costs to Dubai. One last thing, services in Dubai are extremely good. Services in Los Angeles, forget about it, because they are the worst in the world. Most services in L.A. are provided by people who don't speak English. Most come from Mexico and have no idea that English is what Americans speak. I have never been to Dubai and have anyone not understand me. Everyone speaks English and that's a beautiful thing.

  5. Hey hun, just wanted to say thank you for posting your videos. It really helps and provide such useful information. Could I ask, do you see yourself settling down in the UAE or do you think it is only good for short term? Xxx

  6. Moving to Dubai by God’s grace in about 2 months. I lived in Ghana for about 4 years and the rent got so high that it was parallel and sometimes more than Dubai. Most landlords now want $3000 so I might as well move to Dubai and get the other perks ! Do you know if there’s a business club for women to network

  7. Personally coming from a small town in the U.K I haven’t found Dubai to be more expensive, especially for bigger purchases, the tax differences really add up example we spent much less on a car, phone, kenwood, mid range designers (McQueen, Fendi) Samsung appliances compared to the uk, only thing that is more expensive is nice furniture, its hard to find brands mid range brands that are good quality, also I find tickets to attractions & entrance fees much cheaper in Dubai,
