Addressing 17 Hebrew Roots Questions

A few years back, a Hebrew Roots documentary was released called “The Way,” in which they interview all sorts of Torah-keepers and really make a case for why people should be keeping the Torah feasts, avoiding Christmas and Easter, eating biblically clean (kosher), keeping the seventh day Shabbat, and so on. (And for the record, I see no problem with anyone choosing to do any of those things. If that’s the way you feel led to live out your faith, go for it!) But most Torah keepers don’t view it as an optional way of life. No, they preach it as the only correct way to follow Jesus. And once they cross the line from optional to required, they’ve entered the unbiblical and dangerous waters of Torahism, which champions a false gospel that requires more than faith in Jesus to be righteous.

In that the trailer for that documentary. they pose 17 common Hebrew Roots questions designed to challenge mainstream Christianity. And in this video we answer them all. We also respond to 10 “contradictions” leveled at the Church.

  1. If we believe, we will have fruit(works). Through faith(requires works) we may be righteous. Breaking bread(food) diesn't mean he would eat filth(cannibal). If you are IN the "new" covenant ypu have no duty or business fishing for men unless your pride is your righteousness. This let's us all know who you are.

  2. This is amazing and very funny every question you addressed sounds like the deception in the garden of eden, you are the perfect person to show the ways that satan can put forward his deception, you are doing an amazing job. The only thing I know is I thank God for the bible and that it's my teacher because if I didn't know what it teaches you RL Solburg would lead me straight to HELL

  3. It’s a good idea but
There are so many churches in Zambia and l think govt can not afford.
It will be a huge responsibility
Pastors should not only sit and wait for umutulo awe- the bible says we should work. They should help themselves
Otherwise if they compromise with their faith it’s upto them.
There’s nothing wrong to get the money from ba pompwe after all nabo teshabo cilifye.

  4. You seem to be avoiding the very definition of sin found in the new testament. 1Jn 3:4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.

You correctly say that disobeying God is sin but His commandments are his express will. The only reason paul can seemingly contradict himself by saying things like romans 3:28  Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.
and then concluding a few verses later with verse 31  Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law. Is because he is refering to two different laws. The penalty or sacrifices that can never make us clean have been done away with. But the commandments are eternal. Which is why hebrews 10 says if we continue transgressing the law after we have knowledge of the truth, there remains no more sacrifice for sins but a looking forward to judgment.

  5. !. WHAT LAW WAS JESUS BORN UNDER ?

You must understand that there is more than one law ; In the bible three type of laws are talked about :

    1. The laws/commandments/instructions of the Father ; which includes all the covenants ; these are instructions to righteousness ; that is why when the man asked Jesus , what good things shall I do , that I may have eternal life ? Jesus said , " KEEP THE COMMANDMENTS " .

    2. The law of the mediators ( law of Moses and the law of Christ ) , which are sin sacrifices laws through a priesthood , to recover you when you transgress the laws of the Father ; remember , the covenants are between the Father and the covenant people ( children of Israel ; believing Gentiles are grafted into the covenant through faith in Jesus ) .

The mediators intercedes for the people ; they do not change the covenants .

Israel is the only nation to have made a covenant with the Father .

The Gentiles are not under the Father's law , but under Christ law ; which is the mediator of the covenant ; which also recover the Israelites from their transgressions against the Father's law .

The law through the mediator Moses ( sometimes called the law of Moses , because it came through the husband/protector Moses ) was the blood of the animals and oblations ; which was carried out by the Leviticus priesthood . This law was the law of works , not of faith ( Romans 3:27-28 , " Where is boasting then ? It is excluded . By what law ? of works ? Nay: but by the law of faith . Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law " ) .

The law of faith ( sometimes called the law of Christ , because it came under the husband/protector Jesus Christ ) is the blood of Jesus Christ through faith ; Which means that you must repent of your sins with a sorrowful heart ( mind ) , like king David did , and believe by obedience ; that means keeping your mediator ( Jesus Christ ) commandments ; which are the same laws/instructions/ commandments of the Father .

MATTHEW 8:1-4 , 1.When he was come down from the mountain, great multitudes followed him.

2And, behold, there came a leper and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.

3And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.

4And Jesus saith unto him, See thou tell no man; but go thy way, shew thyself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.

    THIS IS THAT GIFT :

LEVITICUS 14:1-32 , 1.And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

2This shall be the law of the leper in the day of his cleansing: He shall be brought unto the priest:

    3And the priest shall go forth out of the camp; and the priest shall look, and, behold, if the plague of leprosy be healed in the leper;

4Then shall the priest command to take for him that is to be cleansed two birds alive and clean, and cedar wood, and scarlet, and hyssop:

5And the priest shall command that one of the birds be killed in an earthen vessel over running water:

6As for the living bird, he shall take it, and the cedar wood, and the scarlet, and the hyssop, and shall dip them and the living bird in the blood of the bird that was killed over the running water:

7And he shall sprinkle upon him that is to be cleansed from the leprosy seven times, and shall pronounce him clean, and shall let the living bird loose into the open field.

8And he that is to be cleansed shall wash his clothes, and shave off all his hair, and wash himself in water, that he may be clean: and after that he shall come into the camp, and shall tarry abroad out of his tent seven days.

9But it shall be on the seventh day, that he shall shave all his hair off his head and his beard and his eyebrows, even all his hair he shall shave off: and he shall wash his clothes, also he shall wash his flesh in water, and he shall be clean.

10And on the eighth day he shall take two he lambs without blemish, and one ewe lamb of the first year without blemish, and three tenth deals of fine flour for a meat offering, mingled with oil, and one log of oil.

11And the priest that maketh him clean shall present the man that is to be made clean, and those things, before the LORD, at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation:

12And the priest shall take one he lamb, and offer him for a trespass offering, and the log of oil, and wave them for a wave offering before the LORD:

13And he shall slay the lamb in the place where he shall kill the sin offering and the burnt offering, in the holy place: for as the sin offering is the priest's, so is the trespass offering: it is most holy:

14And the priest shall take some of the blood of the trespass offering, and the priest shall put it upon the tip of the right ear of him that is to be cleansed, and upon the thumb of his right hand, and upon the great toe of his right foot:

15And the priest shall take some of the log of oil, and pour it into the palm of his own left hand:

16And the priest shall dip his right finger in the oil that is in his left hand, and shall sprinkle of the oil with his finger seven times before the LORD:

17And of the rest of the oil that is in his hand shall the priest put upon the tip of the right ear of him that is to be cleansed, and upon the thumb of his right hand, and upon the great toe of his right foot, upon the blood of the trespass offering:

18And the remnant of the oil that is in the priest's hand he shall pour upon the head of him that is to be cleansed: and the priest shall make an atonement for him before the LORD.

19And the priest shall offer the sin offering, and make an atonement for him that is to be cleansed from his uncleanness; and afterward he shall kill the burnt offering:

20And the priest shall offer the burnt offering and the meat offering upon the altar: and the priest shall make an atonement for him, and he shall be clean.

    21And if he be poor, and cannot get so much; then he shall take one lamb for a trespass offering to be waved, to make an atonement for him, and one tenth deal of fine flour mingled with oil for a meat offering, and a log of oil;

22And two turtledoves, or two young pigeons, such as he is able to get; and the one shall be a sin offering, and the other a burnt offering.

23And he shall bring them on the eighth day for his cleansing unto the priest, unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, before the LORD.

24And the priest shall take the lamb of the trespass offering, and the log of oil, and the priest shall wave them for a wave offering before the LORD:

25And he shall kill the lamb of the trespass offering, and the priest shall take some of the blood of the trespass offering, and put it upon the tip of the right ear of him that is to be cleansed, and upon the thumb of his right hand, and upon the great toe of his right foot:

26And the priest shall pour of the oil into the palm of his own left hand:

27And the priest shall sprinkle with his right finger some of the oil that is in his left hand seven times before the LORD:

28And the priest shall put of the oil that is in his hand upon the tip of the right ear of him that is to be cleansed, and upon the thumb of his right hand, and upon the great toe of his right foot, upon the place of the blood of the trespass offering:

29And the rest of the oil that is in the priest's hand he shall put upon the head of him that is to be cleansed, to make an atonement for him before the LORD.

    30And he shall offer the one of the turtledoves, or of the young pigeons, such as he can get;

31Even such as he is able to get, the one for a sin offering, and the other for a burnt offering, with the meat offering: and the priest shall make an atonement for him that is to be cleansed before the LORD.

32This is the law of him in whom is the plague of leprosy, whose hand is not able to get that which pertaineth to his cleansing.

JESUS WAS BORN UNDER THE LAW OF MOSES , OR THE LAW OF ANIMAL SACRIFICE & OBLATIONS .

THE GOD OF ISRAEL LAWS LAST FOREVER ( PSALM 111:1-8 ) ; THE LAW OF WORKS HE GAVE THROUGH THE MEDIATOR MOSES , WAS REPLACED BY THE LAW OF FAITH THROUGH THE MEDIATOR JESUS CHRIST .

THE APOSTLE PETER STATED THAT SOME OF PAUL WRITINGS AND OTHER SCRIPTURES ARE SOMRTIMES HARD TO BE UNDERSTOOD .

  6. That's what so many of the HRM people do. If you provide some sort of defense or point that contradicts theirs, they seem to think you're defending everything the church does. So frustrating.

  7. Listen to what Jesus tells his disciples …

Therefore anyone who sets aside one of the least of these commands and teaches others accordingly will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

  8. The Way documentary was originally going to be ALL about circumcision! Literally promoting it! They were advised against it and instead, just included a segment where this guy talks about how he circumcised HIMSELF in his bath tub! Well, he ended up in the ER and the psych unit🤦‍♀️ He was laughing as he told the story.
I had bought the download version of the documentary as soon as it was released and watched it right away, however, when I watched it months later at a gathering, it did not notice that segment. I believe they edited it out when it came out on DVD.
Incredibly dangerous and irresponsible of them to have included that segment and a blatant disregard of scripture in general regarding the topic of circumcision!

  9. I'm laughing 🤣 to bro. Just because Peter ate with gentiles doesn't mean he ate unclean. For example when I partake with my neighbors and family members they eat whatever but I eat biblically clean.
