You have to hear his most recent album “The Big Day”
Bob really just pumped out 2 videos in the span of 20 minutes. Bros on the grind
Check out Erykah Badu's "Mama's Gun" album 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Add songs in the key of life by stevie wonder to your list bob🤞
Bob, if you want to do jazz stuff, you might actually get some good views related to classic albums, considering there is really nobody doing reactions to those releases. if you do, you gotta check out the big ones like miles davis, john coltrane, charles mingus, pharaoh sanders etc. The best recommendation for a starter imo is Kind of Blue from miles, because while underwhelming on first listen, every consequent jazz album you hear will make you appreciate it more. plus, def has that small smoky jazz club feel.
Ice Spice > D'Angelo
one passed the Poppop Car Test ™
I think you'll love "Brown Sugar"
Brown Sugar is one of my all-time fav albums. Because of how much I loved his first album, I really never gave Voodoo a chance. It was soooo different. I bought it, listened to a few tracks back in the day, and then walked away. Thanks for the reminder; I’ll be queuing this album up tomorrow with an open mind again and hope to finally “get it.”
This is the reset of the Neo-Soul era…. Check Erikah Badu, Jill Scott and other albums from the Soulquarians with Common – Like Water for Chocolate, Mos Def – Black on Both Sides, Talib Kweli – Reflection Eternal…
You did Voodoo and Things Fall Apart so Common's Like Water for Chocolate is next up since it was recorded during same recording dates of the Soulquarians at Electric Lady Studios they all blended in to each other. Badu's Mama's Gun is the other one in these sessions all classics imo. D'Angelo rarely realeses and album but all 3 are perfect classics
I'd be excited for a Black Messiah react! It's one of my favorite albums
Bob I would LOVE to help put you on to the world of jazz. There's so much stuff that I think would give you some of that experience & feeling you're talking about.
Black Messiah.
You might consider a Prince album. Purple Rain.
Or Al Green, or Marvin Gaye. Important stuff.
Erykah Badu is in this same neo-soul vibe, and she’s one of the all-time great R&B artists. Hope you listen to her soon!!!
yeah this album nuts
Please react to Chaos Now by Jean Dawson, you would love it
Try in a silent way
Not sure if anyone has said it, but fun fact for if you've played Red Dead Redemption 2, he recorded the main sing for the game soundtrack. It's called Unshaken
I love this album so much. Welcome to neo-soul Bob!! My favorite rnb sub genre. I can't wait for your "mamas gun" reaction
Hey Bob. Just wanted to give you a friendly reminder that you haven’t done any Erykah Badu, Common, or Missy Elliott yet.
if you liked Voodoo then you should check out his first album Brown Sugar (my personal favorite of his), and if you wanna check out other artists with the same sound I HIGHLY recommend Erykah Badu. Baduizm, Mama’s Gun, and New Amerykah Part Two are sooooooo good you have to give them a try I know for a FACT you would like them
This album is a wonderful pivot point into any number of other fantastic releases that it’s either inspired by, the classic stuff you said you hadn’t heard from the Donny Hathaway’s, Al Green’s, Marvin Gaye (What’s Going On is perfect) and Stevie Wonder’s (everyone will recommend Songs In The Key Of Life but that album for me is culminative, it’s a lot of everything and too inconcise to be a good entry point. Innervisions is the best of his 70s stuff because it’s him at his best with no excess) of the world. And then the modern stuff like Solange’s last two albums. Also can’t wait till you do Awaken My Love by Childish Gambino eventually. That should rock your world. It’s got a similar, gaze into the past as far as it’s palette goes but I’ll gush about it and it’s influences when (if) you get to it.
Black Messiah is brilliant I feel like Bob would enjoy the hell out of that album. Can't wait to see the reaction!
"I don't know much about jazz" is a can of worms" looking forward to the rocker reacts to jazz series
In all seriousness listen to the song what about me by snarky puppy. Most rockers over shown it to love it
imo Black Messiah is just as good (if not better)
If you want to check out jazz I'd reccomend Ryo Fukui's album Scenery. Japan banned western music after ww2 which resulted in some amazing jazz music coming from Japan. The album is so smooth and has some great basslines. Great for lazy Sunday mornings.
If you want a jazz bar type album, Roc Marciano and the Alchemist released an album last year that feels just like that. Roc Marci is one of the most important underground hiphop artists and one of the best lyricists ever
Sad that we probably will never see a jazz reaction on the channel
Was great to hear your opinion on this one. What you said about Jazz, try listening to Bill Evans Trio – Sunday at the Village Vanguard, and Waltz for Debby. It's exactly the mood that you're describing, both were recorded in the same night at the club in 62', glasses clinking, amazing vibe!
I listened to voodoo for the first time senior year of high school. There was a 3 year period where my top 7 all time songs were all from this album and I consistently get 100,000 plus minutes every year. Definitely have listened to it in full over a hundred fifty times easily. Watching ur reaction made me like it more ever so slightly more than I already do. Anything out of electric lady studios from that 5 year period is worth your time from the “Soulquarians” so many timeless classics, and Voodoo is undoubtedly the crown jewel from that period. My fav album prolly ever and has been like that for a few years
Please check out Black Messiah. It's definitely more up your alley than Voodoo.
Pls under pressure logic
Classic album.
Neo soul bible.
Black Messiah is also a classic.
You have do Erykah Badu mama Gun , Baduizm to New America pt 2
Alot of people refer to it as "neo-soul" but I'm pretty sure D'angelo dislikes that labelling.
So glad you did this! A few songs from black messiah was recorded in the same session as voodoo
You should react to an album named Boros by Lil Darkie.
hey if you want to try jazz a litte bit you should do love supreme by john colttrane. im not that into jazz but for me THATS the album.
Thank you, Bob. Black Messiah is a must!
Wud love to see the velvet rope by Janet jackson
