According to reports, NFL Insider Information The Packers' Prove-It Deal With Sammy Watkins

Wide receiver Sammy Watkins has signed with the Green Bay Packers, giving him a new lease on life in the NFL.

The NFC North division champions needed Davante Adams after the former Clemson standout left for the Las Vegas Raiders.

The 28-year-old wideout played for the Baltimore Ravens last season, accumulating 394 yards and a score.

Despite the fact that he only caught 27 receptions for the Ravens, he made a couple spectacular plays.

Matt LaFleur, who was his offensive coordinator with the Los Angeles Rams, will also be reunited with him.

Watkins scored eight touchdowns, a 15.2 yard per catch average, and 10 catches of at least 20 yards that year.

Green Bay would like Watkins to earn his money in 2022, even if he fits a need.

If he performs well, the Packers may offer him a larger contract with more guaranteed money.

Contract terms: The #Packers signed WR Sammy Watkins to a 1-year, $1.85M deal with $350K coming in a signing bonus. He has $2.15M available in incentives for playing time ($525K max), receptions ($525K max), receiving yards ($525K max) and receiving TDs ($575K max). So $4M max.

Watkins’ one-year agreement with Green Bay was broken down by Pro Football Focus reporter Ari Meirov.

He will be paid a basic salary of $1.85 million plus a $350,000 signing bonus.

If he passes specific criteria, he might win up to $4 million.

For playing time, he could earn up to $525,000, and for catches, he could earn up to $525,000.

Watkins could also earn another $525,000 if he catches a certain number of passes and up to $575,000 if he scores a touchdown.

Watkins will benefit from playing with Aaron Rodgers.

Watkins’ chances of reaching those standards will be aided by having reigning MVP Aaron Rodgers as his quarterback.

Rodgers must, of course, distribute the ball to Allen Lazard and Randall Cobb.

However, the experienced quarterback is one of the league’s most accurate passers.

He has 37 touchdowns and and four interceptions last season.

Rodgers threw for 48 touchdowns and five interceptions in 2020, a career-high 70.7 percent completion rate.

As a result, the four-time NFL MVP will aid Watkins’ development.
