By revealing what “adoption of a child” really means, Kevin Maguire dispels the stigma of adoption by showing that it happens for all children, even those who are adopted by the parents who gave birth to them. Kevin Maguire has been a professional music teacher for over 25 years. Starting on the violin from a very early age, he soon found himself on many stages ranging from musical theater to film scoring. He currently teaches violin, piano and voice lessons. He completed his BA at the University of Central Florida in Digital Media. He is an advocate for adoption and believes that every child deserves a chance to have someone who loves them. When asked about what he does in his free time he said that a cup of joe, sunshine on his face and some good conversation with his closest is his first pick. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx

Amazing Talk shared by an amazing individual. Thank you for sharing your story and expanding my thoughts on adoption and what it means to be a parent.
Way to go, Kev! Glad you’re getting your story out there!
This guy loves to hear himself talk. This was ridiculous. Who selected this guy to talk?!?! There’s so much more that could’ve been said about adoption & OBL. This guy does not have a likable personality 👎
A truly inspirational story and an incredible affirmation of your love for your mom. Thank you for sharing!
Great talk Kevin! You really elevated my thinking on adoption and I appreciate your vulnerability.
Wonderful!
As someone who chose non-DNA related adoption to create my family, I want to say thank you for reminding us that everyone is born and then adopted. And all paths to "family" are valid. Great talk.
