A Whole NEW WORLD? Well.. Not For Me

Disclaimer: For New World’s launch we ran a sponsored stream. This video is not sponsored and no element of our critique is covered under that sponsorship.

So New World is finally here after a short delay and it’s well… pretty much the same as it was. A few elements have been slowed down such as the weapon levelling, but by and large it is still very grinding focused with little in the way of quest variety or defined story questing. There is definitely a good game here for those who enjoy grinding and open world PVP (maybe), but if like Mike you need a bit more directed content, it may not be for you.

  1. Even worse: the some of the best power leveling is some spots have broken spawning rates for elites (instantly respawn, high exp, good drops) where you have 20 people forming a circle around the spawn and just getting like 3 hits to kill it; where it then instantly respawns in under 1sec. Neat

  2. i really dont get the complaints about repetetive gameplay and then mention world of warcraft and FF14, as ff14 gets the same content every expansion with more boring story and reskinned fights, and wow is infamous for being a grind heavy game.. not hating on anyone or anyones opinions i just dont get the complaints with an answer like that.

  3. I hope in a years time this game starts to pick up. So far I'm enjoying it. Massive potential. Considering this was supposed to be strictly PvP, it's a good game!
I want to be patient with newbie Amazon Gaming.

  4. I legit fell asleep while doing New World questing. Everything about the game seems designed to just be repetitive and time-wasting. That's never been my jam. Even if I'm in the mood to cut down trees and plant stuff and craft, I'd rather just play the Story of Seasons games on Steam rather than a slow ass MMO. I'm really not sure where the longevity for New World is supposed to come from. The PvP doesn't seem a single iota better than any other PvP game, and in fact seems worse because the combat is so basic and lopsided.

I can see now that the $40 price tag and no sub wasn't an accident. They're hoping to sell you on the low price and then with no sub they can try to lure you back in 8 months when there's finally a big content update or something. Unfortunately unless they revamp the entire way you interact with the game world, I don't think I'll be coming back. Everything about it just feels like an early access survival game with a light MMO veneer thrown on top.

  5. I'm personally having a very fun time with New World with the boys, kinda just reminds me of a baby OSRS sequel that's just learning to crawl, but I totally understand your criticisms 100%. Interested to see how they start to flesh out the game in the future.

  6. i feel like the whole premise of this game is grinding it has a lot of similar stuff to runescape lol, not sure its gunna change enough to how you would prefer it but who knows
i dont mind a grid so long as it feels like im getting something out of it.

  7. I think they really wanted everyone to be PVP and no one is. I was excited about the PVP quests and then there was no one there to PVP with. I'm thinking they're all going to be cheap and power level with PVP off then come back and gank when they are high level. Cheap asses.

  8. Besides the density and visuals, the audio in this game is of such high quality. Spacious, crispy and chunky sounds. The gameplay is lacking for sure and I feel like New World doesn't know what it's identity is, what does it wanna be. It's like it's trying to be everything and ending up with less. And considering this game wants to reach alot of players, the performance is really bad. I'm on a 3070 and it's all over the place. People with 3090 saying it runs fine is such a headache.

  9. It so far feels good to me, it has notes of older mmo pace with lots to do and few reasons to plow threw the whole game as fast as possible. The quests lack some flavor and variety, some public event quests would have been stellar
