Chongqing Metro Line 2, also known as Light Rail Line 2 (輕軌2號綫) or Rail Transit Line 2, is the first monorail in China and the first subway line in the southwestern area. It has been operating since 2004. The line starts from Jiaochangkou (較場口，personally I think it should be 校場口) in Yuzhong (渝中) District and terminates at Yudong (魚洞) in Ba’nan (巴南) District. It covers a length of 18.6 miles (30 km), with 25 stations in service.
The line begins as a subway under downtown Jiefangbei, then runs west along the southern bank of the Jialing River on an elevated line, and then turns south into the city’s southwestern inner suburbs, looping back east to terminate at Yudong in Ba’nan.
The metro operates in two sections: Jiaochangkou – Tiantangbao (天堂堡) & Tiantangbao – Yudong. For those who commute from Jiaochangkou to Yudong, they need to transfer to another train at Tiantangbao within the station.
The rush hours are 07:30 – 09:30 in the morning and 16:30 – 19:30 in the afternoon.
Liziba Station (李子壩站) is an overhead side platform station on Chongqing Rail Transit Line 2. It’s located at the intersection between New Jialing Road and Guihuayuan Road in Yuzhong District, Chongqing City. The station is known for the transit track running through a block of flats.
The station is located on the sixth to eighth floors of a 19-story residential building. It uses specialized noise reduction equipment to isolate station noise from the surrounding residences. The station and building were constructed together as one whole structure.
Apart from being a unique transit station, Liziba is home to folk daily lives, memories of historical wars, and numerous undiscovered stories. It’s also close to the Liziba Anti-Japanese War Relics Park, the first park of its kind in Chongqing.
Inside Liziba flows the stories of glory days; on the surface, it is filled with slices of everyday life, passing on from generation to generation1. Old-style residential buildings pervade here, adding interest and charm to the locals’ daily lives.
