The content itself (of this video) acknowledges who the original people were that were exposed to slavery in The Bible. It is very evident but it is not taught or acknowledged in teachings within many church environments and ministries. But I do appreciate the fact that it was acknowledged here.
As for the Holocaust, it does not align with the same slavery we see in the Scriptures. I do not approach the Holocaust with an insensitive disposition. I do not condone hatred of any kind, especially towards human life.
But the truth must be revealed and it must be told correctly.
Now those who were exposed to the Holocaust were taken into captivity by train, not by ships. And that inhumane treatment that those precious souls suffered did not last for 400 years. It lasted from 1933 to 1945.
Those who were exposed to slavery in the Scriptures were indeed of black descent.
But in order to understand the presence of slavery within The Scriptures, we cannot allow emotional dispositions to forerun how we see the truth. When we try to examine slavery and the existence of it in The Scriptures through our emotions we will not be able to see the revelation and knowledge provided correctly. Our emotions will cause us to bypass the truth and hang onto mindsets that oppress how we see the history and the information.
Yes it is true, the Roman Catholic Church had their hand in slavery. And so did certain of those who were descendants of Ishmael. And you know who Ismael is right? His mother was the servant of Abraham and his wife Sarah. Her name was Hagar.
And the British had a heavy hand in this inhumane practices and those of European descent and certain of those who were of Spaniard descent. There were quite a a few nations of people who hand their hands in this repugnant practice.
It is important that those who present scriptures regarding slavery understand the heart, Spirit, soul, and mind of God when it comes to this practice.
The Most High God did not condone the mistreatment of human life, especially in slavery and in things like servant hood.
For one slavery was not an institution of GOD. That is a lie from the pits of hell.
And Abraham did not "hold slaves without God's disapproval." That is also a lie from the pits of hell.
It is unwise for a person to jump to Genesis 21:9-10 and neglect reading Genesis 16:3.
It says, "And Sarai Abram's wife took Hagar her MAID the Egyptian, after Abram had dwelt ten years in the land of Canaan, and gave her to her husband Abram to be his wife." And in verses 5 and 6 we will see that she is referred to as a maid.
The reason being is because The Most High God has established His life around the intimate practice of servant hood. His life is about serving others, ministering to the needs of others. This is what born again sons and daughters do in His Kingdom. We pour life into people, especially those who are bound and oppressed by sin and darkness.
See, slavery is not confined to a physical interpretation or a physical experience. Slavery also teaches about the spiritual side of the human nature, especially when it is in a state that has fallen from the image of The Most High God.
When we live life through sin, we are in a real form of bondage and slavery. Sin oppresses the human soul. Sin takes life from the human soul. Sin hosts darkness and dark practices.
Now, in Genesis 21:10 and 12 we see Hagar being acknowledged as a "bondwoman." This reveals her as a woman who is not established in the everlasting covenant that was made to Abraham in Genesis 17:19. Abraham was given a promise by The Most High God that He would give him a son. And The Most High established His covenant with that son, which was Isaac.
Hagar was given a blessing for her son Ishmael which is in Genesis 17:20. Even though she was Abraham's wife's maid, The Most High God still blessed her and her seed.
Does that sound like an inhumane promotion of slavery?
Abraham and Sarah did not mistreat their servants. They upheld an integrity when caring for their servants. They did not exploit their servants to inhumane treatments.
The Most High God is against it and The Messiah Jesus Christ is against it.
Please feel free to read scriptures: Leviticus 19:9-18 and Deuteronomy 24:14-18; Jeremiah 22:13-14; Malachi 3:5; James 5:1-6.
As for Ephesians 6:5-8, those verses are not just for those who were identified as slaves and servants during that time. This is also applicable in the working world today. These spiritual laws apply to the business world, the corporate world, and to the world of entrepreneurship. Those who work for wages will fall under these scriptures.
Ephesians 6:5-8 was mishandled and abused by slave owners in this world. They thought these spiritual laws was a pass for them to mistreat The Most High's people.
They chose to ignore the scriptures that teach how one should treat those that serve and that minister to the needs of others. Those are the scriptures that I just shared (Deuteronomy 24:14-18; Leviticus 19:9-18; Jeremiah 22:13-14, and James 5:1-6 and so forth). Those scriptures were ignored and overlooked by the slave owners, especially those who gave a false and ungodly representation of The Most High's life through the practice of Catholicism and Christianity.
Christianity is not the villain in slavery. Those who used it as a scapegoat to push inhumane practices like slavery were the culprits. They had no intention to give a pure language to the life of The Messiah Jesus Christ. They purposely chose to desecrate the image and holiness of The Most High God and the life He and His Son Jesus Christ identifies with.
It takes having a real and pure covenant relationship with The Most High God in order to see all of this correctly, especially the inhumane practices of slavery.
Our ancestors went into slavery because they chose to rebel against The Most High God. They chose to desecrate His image, His name, and His spiritual laws. He put spiritual laws in place so they could learn about their design and why they needed regeneration and redemption. He was about protecting their value as His people. And many of them were unable to see that. He was focused on restoring His people. They kept bucking up against His methods and ways of interacting with their building processes and their processes with regeneration.
They kept turning to practices that promoted satan and darkness. So He used slavery as a method to teach them about sin. Those who were involved in slavery were not suppose to mishandle His people the way that they did. They went too far. And the hate and corruption they left behind through their wicked agendas left our people in a greater state of oppression along with degrading traumatic experiences.
The Most High God created His people to be heirs of His Kingdom. He created them to give language to the Kingdom life. He did not teach His people about culture. He taught His people about living life through the divine government structure of His Kingdom. We will not find The Most High God teaching His people about culture. He was strictly focused on setting His people apart to express a Kingdom life that does not come from this world.
So before any of us try to discredit the writings of The Bible. And before we label The Bible as "the white man's book."
Before we try to come up with all the reasons why we should reject the history that this book upholds. We need to actually turn our attention to the present issues that exist amongst us. For instance: why does our history always start with slavery in many of the education institutions that are present in this world? Why come we are not given our original history that comes before slavery? Why come many historical events are hidden about our people? Why are we the most oppressed people in this world? Why come Deuteronomy 28, (especially the curses) line up with many of the things our people are facing today?
And as for Ham's son Canaan, yes, he was cursed by his grandfather Noah. Noah cursed Ham's son because of what Ham did. Ham did not show respect or honor to his father's disposition as an authoritative figure of their household and as a head, as a leader, provider, protector, and covering. Instead of telling his brothers about his father's nakedness, he should have did the integral thing and covered his father's nakedness instead. That act revealed that Ham cannot be trusted with the intimate and personal space of those who are entrusted with positions of authority. Ham wouldn't be able to cover a man or a woman's vulnerability correctly. He would be a liability in that area. And because he carried that character in his disposition, it would be seen in his son Canaan.
As for Paul "returning a slave to his owner", it would be beneficial to not only focus on Philemon 12, but also read verse 16. Paul was about protecting and preserving the value of the human soul. He was not in favor of the mistreatment of the human soul through slavery. Paul was not a stranger to chains. He himself understood slavery and understood why it was important to care about the human soul.
