I grew up in Pico Rivera! And up until a year ago still lived there (Beverly & Rosemead) as well as living 3 blocks away from Pico Park where we played baseball and football as kids. I even went to pre-school there as well as Junior High School at North Park located on the same grounds as the park. This was surreal to watch … How did Pico make it on SNL?!? BTW, that’s not a picture of Pico Park. I don’t know what that picture was from.
That was funny with the chollas as they do talk like that. Mexican gangs were all around. But not like they used to be. I’m 59 and chollas like that were around in the ‘70s mostly. They still exist but yeah, that was kind of a blast from the past.
OK, just figured it out. Melissa is from Whittier. A stones throw away from Pico Park. And that park of Whittier having gangs also. Anyway, what a mind blower for me.

There was actually a little backlash in Pico Rivera over this. So silly. This was so well done and everybody got made fun of. Loved that they named the newscaster "Chad." There really are Cholas and 'white settlers' there. They nailed it. And they threw Pico Rivera a bone with that park backdrop. That's not even close to any park there.
