Cross those straps
As much it is funny when you realize your not in 4wd it shows how capable the rig really is.
i've never operated a wrecker off road. But why not have some kind of wheel/axle lift for a situation like this? It could be a simple A frame that pins into the hitch receiver, and secures to the front axle of what youre towing with a chain on each side. Then you can lift the A frame with the boom, and itll lift via the front axle. This way you'll have full control over the towed vehicle, it wont crash into the back of the wrecker, and you wont have to worry about the boom hitting the towed vehicle. Nobody who operates an off road wrecker on youtube does this, so there might be something im missing here.
Suggestion I would think a sling on the back. Like Eric's red truck would be a lot safer and more controllable, just a suggestion.
You need to cross your tow ropes like mater.stops the side sway so much.

Fun to watch the timelapse of running in the trail. Seeing that xj have a couple of little struggles and the wrecker walk right up the obstacles.

I love how many people are mentioning to cross the lower straps. People are paying attention and learning to be professional tow truck drivers. Its awesome
fyi try crossing those bottom two straps/ropes it will minimize some of that swinging side to side of the load your pulling

These cables that go from tow truck to towed vehicle
are under enormous stress,yet twist,turn hold vehicle at correct height for safe towing on open road the cables are amazing,as are the skilled driver taking the time, feeling the road and load
