  1. I think it's a simplified version of the same question re: curing the genophage, with the logic weighted towards killing it as much as possible. Unsure if this was foresight or due to scaling back from the genophage or just plain coincidence, but I think having different choices on them should certainly come with an explanation, and I can't imagine the logic of someone who agrees with the genophage but still frees the rachni

  2. The team didn't really go against us make a lot of sense. We are still a military group so ranks is very important. Tali's people always have to put the greater good first and Liara is still a young naïve scientist and respect superior, the same can be said for Garrus. They might disagree but ultimately you are the commanding officer. Wrex on the other hand is a Krogan whose race is all about might make right, so he is less incline to just go along with everything.

That not to say there isn't a miss opportunities, they can have unique dialogues depend on your actions, and open up more relationship choices. I believe Dragon Age Origin did this.

Or this could all be me giving Bioware too much credit, since this didn't really hold up in the sequels.

  3. Asari also use other species to diversify their genes
This is for evolutionary purposes as well
As liara says “pure bloods” is an very bad insult

The genetics are not diversified as much
Like if a human, had a child with a sister or first cousin.
Pure blood is though to be alot like inbreeding

  4. ME is probably the best trilogy in all of gaming (imho of course). ME1 sets everything up perfectly, ME2 is legendary for a reason & ME3 is still a fantastic game, albeit somewhat less than what it should have been, due to all the compromises & corners Bioware were forced to cut in order to meet EA's ridiculous demands & release schedule. The writing's still first class. It's just a shame they weren't given more time to sculpt 3 into the masterpiece it could & should easily have been. It's also unfortunately, the last decent title Bioware ever made. Both Andromeda & Anthem were such awful disasters that I don't have high hopes for the development of ME4 & I think the Bioware we knew – the company the became the standard bearer for Western RPG's, are alas a thing of the past & never to be resurrected.

  5. I love how you used the analogy of an archaeological dig site that is slowly uncovered across generations, and the Reapers' greatest advantage is that they take that teamwork away across time and space, by erasing histories and by shutting down the mass relays. I had rarely felt as truly intimidated in a game as I felt not even when meeting Sovereign but when meeting Vigil and realizing that Sovereign had already tried to start the mass extinction and had been stopped by the last act of a species that died 50,000 years ago, that Shepard could have already been living in the time of extinction but for the grace of god, as they say. This was only compounded when I realized that the Protheans had flung a light forward against all odds and my Shepard was the one who picked it up without realizing it at first. I was just in awe of the storytelling in that moment with Vigil, how all those pieces of plot and character and worldbuilding came together so beautifully. It was one of the most memorable moments in fiction for me. Just masterful. I'll always love the first Mass Effect. What a journey it is.

  6. For some reason, I never played any of these games. Honestly, I had no idea what they were about. It may have had something to do with the release date. Definitely love your perspective on the game and look forward to the full series in depth look.

  7. What's brilliant about Mass Effect, it does a great job of squaring generally otherwise outlandish conceits and silly tropes within scifi within the world very plausibly and with good verisimilittude.

They do satisfying in universe (watsonian) explanations for pretty much anything

Virmire and the conversation with Sovereign and then Ilos and the Conversation with Vigil are such master strokes of story telling, that contextualizes everything so brilliantly

Karpyshyn provides such excellent forethought with the world building and story and allows us to have our cakes and eat them too.

  8. Been kind of burned out since Elden Ring. This video has inspired me to go buy the legendary edition. Mass effect is the shit. I even enjoyed Andromeda despite its issues.

  9. Please, bare with me here. I got a point.

I know this whole alpha and beta male nonsense is hogwash. But still, some men and also women just give off a superior energy. This is exactly how your videos feel. Alpha, if you want to put it in those terms. The confidence of your delivery, the no non-sense, the intelligent way you order the chapters. You definitely have the special sauce to do this stuff. Good on you. I'm as happy for you as I am jealous.

  11. I liked the interaction with the consort's trinket and the prothean site on the planet I can't remember.

Edit: I prefer Kaiden as a character but since I never romance him because of the infinitely more interesting other options his citadel scenes in 3 end up being really awkward.
