A Look Back At The Story of Sekiro – Shadows Die Twice

Sekiro Shadows Die Twice is a unique game. It has a different approach to gameplay and storytelling that hasn’t been seen in the soulsborne series. But do these bold changes make the game good? Let’s find out.

  1. I think the Mibu Village residents are in fact immortal because you can clear out mobs but they eventually come out of the ground again infinitely. It's sad tho that the water makes them perpetually thirsty and they can never quench it. And you can see bodies at the bottom of the river nearby where folks have drowned trying to drink the water. That's how I interpreted it, but then again, this goes against what I just said about the villagers being immortal, so how did they die?

  2. Ah, from mindlessly l1 spamming until the stamina bar is empty and tanking a bunch of attacks for no reason for EVERY one of the souls games, to spamming the block button nonstop to get deflects for this lmao gotta love it 😂🤷🏻‍♂️

  3. Also, the marks on Genichiro is NOT burns from lightning 🙄 it’s his skin being hard from the rejuvenating sediment that he used to become “immortal” which is talked about in the game. THATS why he looks like that, and why he resurrected after you kill him lmao paying attention is free. The lore in this game is SO much easier to pay attention to and follow then it is in the souls games so I guess I’m just surprised but 🤷🏻‍♂️

  4. The mibu villagers are definitely immortal, they just resurrect at specific locations. I don’t think the okami drank the rejuvenating waters, just the waters of the palace which does not make them immortal but does make them carp like.

  5. Cannon story says you beat him but there was a second individual that distracted sekiro with a shuriken star allowing an opening that got his hand cut off. You gotta be a good player to see the cannon outcome of the 1st fight.

  6. I actually think the NPCs in this game were perfect for it they had enough to say and they weren't one liners, the game was compact and somewhat linear so there didn't need to be all these npc quests, that's one thing I love about sekiro is it's all about the story and progressing through it, not having to do all these dumb npc quests for rewards.

  7. Honestly people are comparing sekiro to the souls games way to much about how theres not enough weapons, bosses, npcs, outfits and build styles, THIS IS NOT DARK SOULS this is sekiro a story about the shinobi and his mission, do you think the shinobi would have a magic build or a big sword build or a bow build? It makes me laugh, it's about the shinobi using the weapon that his prince gifted him hes not going to pick up a weapon off a dead body like dark souls, it's about honor and loyalty, about wolf using his weapon to slay his enemies to protect and follow his master, what people dont get is its extremely story based, you play the story of wolf and that's that if you dont like it then sekiro is not for you. The story of sekiro would not be nearly as good if it wasn't so direct and based on the skill of shinobi.

  8. I genuinely wanted to help ginishiro when I learned who he was, how he wanted to help his people and he wasn't just an ass. He genuinely wanted to help, and his pure determination and dedication pushed him to almost kill himself to save his people from you the "good guy".

  9. Finished last week for the first time in about 27 hrs. Last 5 hours were purely xp farming. Went for NG+ and finished it in 3-4 hours (Ashura ending which is by far he fastest). Can't wait to get the other two endings in and unlock all gauntlets. This game has absolutely everything and will be forever one of my all time favourites. The community keeps it alive with so many fresh and exciting mods as well which completely reshapes the experience. Love.

  10. Thankyou for pointing out how sekiro fumbles at the hilt trying to draw at first encounter but then perfectly smooth like butter like draws at the second encounter/end, i mean just look at this 42:40 not just showing how you the Player improved in skills wise but also sekiro grew in character wise throughout the game.

EDIT: sorry for bad english, i hope you understand what am trying to say… Sekiro is my Fav game and Gentle Emma is Mommy

  11. The centipede infestiation is a reference to sengoku era medice. Disease was thought to occur from tiny insects infesting your body aka evil spirits. And the cure was a gourd imbued with plant mixtures in order to cleanse the body of the parasites.

This infection is tabbo and the point of the monks worshiping the centipede as something good shows they lost their way and this is an evil omen and it is also a fase immortality.

  12. Fun Fact: Idk if this is a shared thing between Japanese and Caribbean culture, but in the Caribbean it's believed that you can't just kill a centipede by stomping on it or even cutting it up. You have to then burn it or else otherwise it will never truly die. There's also some more superstitious aspects to this but that's the general gist here. Would be interesting to know if that's the reason beind the centipedes in this game as it's just further intdication that even across vast distances you can have very similar cultures

  13. I love fighting system in this game. Once you get comfortable enough to move past simple strike and deflect sword fight, everything becomes amazingly fluid and open with skills and prosthetic arm. I disagree with common statement that Shinobi prosthetic use is situational. Combinations prosthetic with skills are vital for combat flow.
