A Life-Changing Bedroom Renovation for Resilient ALS Warrior | George to the Rescue (FULL EPISODE)

A community in Commack, NY comes together to help transform a private 400 square foot garage into a serene, functional, and accessible master suite for a courageous ALS warrior whose bright smile lights up every room she’s in.

Jackie Pearsall, a former physical education instructor, has been battling with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) for over a year. Due to her condition, she has limited mobility and relies on an iPad to communicate. The ‘George to the Rescue’ team was beyond honored for the opportunity to provide Jackie, along with her loving husband Brian (a cancer survivor) and their two supportive sons (Adam, a recent college student at Buffalo; and Kyle, a carpenter who currently resides with his parents) with the bedroom and ADA-compliant bathroom renovation — which includes outdoor ramp installations from Mobility Works, a wheelchair accessible vehicle to comfortably travel around in that was gifted by ALS Ride for Life’s Mobility Matters program and an adjustable state-of-the-art medical bed from Dawn House — that she needed in order to help make their home more accessible and their day-to-day errands a little more manageable and less daunting.

Special shoutout to Marlaina Teich and her interior design team, Dawn House Beds, MobilityWorks @home, Cohen Design Build, Center Island Contracting, Symmetry Closets, 3M, Accetra Arts, ALS Ride for Life, Phillip Jeffries LTD, Melissa Pollack PJ, 3D Sound and Security, Vanity Fair Baths, Rai Marble, Gef Painting and Wallpaper, Kravet Showroom Long Island, Kohler, and more generous contributors for making this project a possibility! 💙🙏

  5. I get it that there is more to any story like this than a TV show can convey, but at first glance it would seem far more effective to move to a single level home than do this type of specific remodeling for two reasons: one, this rebuild wont serve her needs for very long and then what do you do with this specialized master suite when you go to sell the house later? Again, I get the drive to stay in your home and there are more variables at play that might have superseded my concerns but I raise them because this show is one sided. Staying in the home by having someone give you free remodeling is not an option for anyone watching this show.

  6. Tough guys don't cry, so they say. Let me tell you this…. we do and George as always…Touch-down mate and that smile on that woman, the sheer excitement she was feeling GLOWED ON HER FACE. Now let's not forget the MAN who stood by his lady. Fantastic as always.

  7. ALS is such a dreadful disease so to make it possible for her to have access to her closet and bathroom, to have a bed that will her very special needs is an incredible gift. I believe it will make life just a little bit easier for the rest of her family as well. The use of the van will give her much needed mobility outside of the home, too. Thanks to George to the Rescue for a very heartwarming show of love and compassion.

  8. Moving and beautiful to see what good-hearted people coming together for one-in-need can do. — Truly the best of America.

Glad to see "George To The Rescue" is still in business, so to speak. — The "business" of kind & generous service.

May God bless all those who gave of themselves, materials, labor & skill, to help one so afflicted. — That is what selfless-godly-love is all about.

  9. An amazing an inspiring friend of mine lived, thrived and died with ALS (In Australia we call it MND…Motor Neuron Disease). A debilitating and 100% terminal disease, where every individual's course in uniquely their own. Jackie's humour, fortitude and warmth are contagious.
Thank you George. You are my hero. xxx
