  2. Courtney needs to keep an eye on Riley and that Dozer. At the rate that Riley's going šŸšœ, he'll have a road out to the moon šŸŒœbefore NASA šŸš€lands their next rocket up there. šŸ¤£šŸ˜‚šŸ¤£šŸ˜‚šŸ˜†šŸ˜

  3. You kids are killing it! Start looking for a bandsaw type wood-mill. Keep your logs you wish to save up off the ground a little. Helps them to dry and stops most of the bugs. Might be a good time while you got that big ole dozer to push off a site for your mill. Make it bigger than you think you'll need. Outdoors With the Morgans has one and he's made his site bigger and bigger. Would save you lots of cash from not having to buy so much lumber, plus can mill it to the size you want or need.

  4. Riley you are doing a great job on the road. My question is are you gonna use the trees that you are pushing over for lumber or fire wood? The dog run turned out great that was a great project for the dogs. I think that your guest is going to appreciate the road that you built. That was a great buy metal detector, to find that bolt for the dossier. Stay safe and and careful.

  5. I'm wondering if you guys are thinking of getting a portable mill for all of that timber?? I think you are more inclined to metal fabrication for future dream projects but, you might have some saleable lumber/timber. Also, how smooth did the road turn out?? šŸ’š

  7. Glad to see that you were able to complete the new road end to end. For a while there it seemed that you couldn't catch a break. Looking forward to see how well the motor home makes it through. Thanks for the video!

  8. Thank you for the effort you have made in producing this video. I have been hoping that your road building project will be a success, and what you have done so far has been very impressive.

I hope that you will be able to save LOTS of firewood from the smaller trees which you have cleared. I feel sure that any trees which you are able to have milled for construction or furniture making will prove to be of value as well.

At around 15:20 you showed us some of your fire-ant colony! Neither of you seemed to be happy to have them there, and I imagine that you would be happy to have them gone. I would like to tell of the success which I have had in the last few weeks, of combating ants which have been a problem around my beehives. One of the difficulties I had to face was to place ant-bait in an outdoor setting, where it would not be affected by the weather, and also to ensure that the bees could not gain access to it, because it uses honey as an attractant for the ants, and therefore bees might also try to get to it. My suggestion for you, and for anyone who reads this comment, is that it has been easy to make my own ant-bait poison which has proved to be very effective, for a fraction of the cost of popular brands of ant poison which normally come in small containers. Colonies of ants in an outdoor location may be large, and may consume a much larger quantity of poison than an infestation of ants in a kitchen. It is also important to make sure that the ant bait cannot be accessed by pet animals.

Having given a brief introduction, I will share the recipe for making the ant bait, but I also wish to share the caution that it has the same risks and warnings as are applicable for any ant bait which you might purchase from a shop. The active ingredient is borax, which can be purchased for use as a laundry additive to clothes washing detergent.

Method: You will need to decide on what quantity of ant bait poison you wish to prepare, but a large colony of ants may require 50-100 ml. Make a concentrated solution of borax in hot water ā€“ about a large teaspoonful of borax powder to half a cup of water. Borax is more soluble in hot water than in cold water, and it is possible that not all of the borax will dissolve. Add sufficient borax solution to a quantity of ā€œrunnyā€ honey to make to make a free-flowing mixture, but do not dilute the honey too much. We want the mixture to be sweet and attractive to the ants, and if you add too much borax solution it may be less attractive to the ants. If you have honey which is creamed or candied, it needs to be warmed so that it is completely liquid, so that the borax solution can be thoroughly mixed with it. You can decide how big a batch of ant bait you wish to prepare, and you may not need all of the borax solution for your first batch. Any unused borax solution can be kept for future use, but just make sure that it has a suitable warning label.

The ants do not die immediately after eating the bait, but this enables them to take bait back to the colony where they will share it with all of the other ants. After the ants begin feeding on the bait, they should not be disturbed. It usually takes 24 to 48 hours for a dramatic reduction of ant numbers, and if the colony is very large the ant bait station may need to be replenished. I think that it is most encouraging that this method can be used to target large ant colonies.

  9. Good work. I bought my 1955 Allis Chalmers Shoveldozer 34 years ago. I put about 1000 hours on it while building my house. I put about 1000 hours into repairs and maintenance. I agree with your assessment of an hour working on it for every hour using it. Watch out for cramps from sitting in the machine too long. I used my metal detector many times to find parts. Have fun. Good Luck, Rick

  10. since boon likes to dig its probably a good idea to tie those posts to structure on the inside of the building, and peg the corners at 45'. also your road looks awesome, but a few spots look like they have a soft shoulder and steep drop. you can reinforce these areas with old railway track pressed into the hill at about 30' so iit heads under the road slightly. you could also put some of the tree trunks between rails to further stiffen the edge. love your content.
