🤔 NEW HERE? 🤔
Hi! My name is Christopher Odd and I’ve been playing video games on the internet for a few years. I really enjoy a variety of games but generally lean towards games with a unique and engaging story (Bioshock, The Witcher, Cyberpunk 2077, The Last of Us etc), strategy/roguelike games (XCOM 2 War of the Chosen, Darkest Dungeon, etc), and RPGs (Dark Souls, Elden Ring, Dragon Age, etc). Of course, I am always looking for great indie games too!

  1. Thanks for the playthrough Chris! I think it's a great idea to revisit when the DLC comes out, and maybe try to get the other ending too at that time.

I always enjoy watching you work stuff out, and this game is such a great vessel for that. But let's be honest, I obviously primarily tuned in for your mad boat piloting skills!

  2. My wife asked me how I could watch this kind of video back when the first one came out. The only response I could think to give was it "romantisised melancholic solitude." I've really been enjoying ShowGunners and Tape to Tape, but I always looked forward to the next episode of Dredge and I've got to say that I'm sad it's over, but I'm glad I was here for it.

  3. Thanks for playing the game, Odd! I always enjoy watching your stuff, even if seeing you never sleep gave me anxiety.

To answer some of your questions… The not moving monster was the wormy guy in the twisted strand. It does work on the lava one too, but only if none of her babies are under you. You can use banish on them. Stress causes birds, tentacle, stuff crawling on your ship, weird red hurricanes, and fast shark.

If you ever wanted to come back and complete all the tasks/catch all fish, I’ll happily watch.

  4. I only started watching your channel last year but I just wanted to say thank you for the play thought content you do I love it. And I love games but don't always want to sit down and play so it is nice to just watch someone else. But thank you for this series it was great 😁

  5. I mean, I've watched this to completion on a couple of other channels already, so there's really only one reason why I'm watching it again on your channel, y'know? I like how you react to and explore these sorts of atmospheric games. But I kinda got the vibe you weren't really enjoying this game so much. I dunno.

  6. It was an interesting game. Chill, no combat etc but some interesting stuff in the background. Just a nice change of pace from the turn based or other just combat stuff.

  7. I loved the art style, and the way you might almost mistake it for a comfy fishing game in the initial stages, if you had no prior information. I also have a soft spot for Lovecraftian cosmic horror, still a little bummed we never saw the end of the Sinking City back in the day, so anything you play with that kind of bent will hold my interest. Love your work mate, loads of great stuff in the last few weeks, just have to find time to get caught up on everything. Look after yourself.

  8. It was a great, relaxing mystery to watch. I loved the art and the feel of it all. Also, I took a shot every time you crashed your boat. Thanks for the buzz.

  10. My favourite insanity effect are the ‘false islands’ with the houses and their little glowing windows. Exactly what a stressed and frightened person may crave to see in the dark of night.

  11. Well, the attraction of this game is of the same root as that of games like, e.g., 'The Darkest Dungeon'. Some kind of mystical post-apocalyptic world / community as a setting. Lovecraftian-mythos streak which manifests itself fairly early in the game. Music and sound which can make or break that sort of a game – and in this game sound and music are excellent in quality and cleverly designed. Also, the 'mundaneness' of the horror / mystique, also, the mythos of 20s-30s era (same as in Indiana Jones series).

That said, could somebody explain or point me to the place in play-through, is there a resolution or explanation for the Mayor/dockyard worker storyline? Also, can you meet Leviathan in-game? And what happens if you go into the fog?

  12. Just finished the game today before watching this. If we have learned one thing from Odd's driving of the boat, it is to never ride with him if he is behind the wheel of a car. 🤣🤣🤣

  13. Hmm as far as I could tell just from your videos, i did suspect some kind of timeline weirdness, especially with interactions with the Collector. There are some definite "its all in your head" vibes throughout the way that people interact with you and the things you come across, so I can see how one might be able to put it all together with a few more hints from sidequests that you didnt go through.

I'm not sure there's much value in doing it again on yiour channel. It was fun to watch but there isn't enough left for another playthrough to be entertaining to watch.

  14. You want to know why people watched this? It's got atmosphere, intrigue, and adventure. That's what keeps people glued to the screens. Also it evokes emotions, we watch people play games to "feed on their emotions", pardon the creepy way I said it. I've watched countless playthroughs of Alien Isolation and Soma (and some Amnesia Rebirth) for the emotions it evokes in the people playing them. Of couse, others might have other reasons for watching, but this were mi reasons, on top of the usual reasons of quality videos and good commentary.

  15. I hope you can revisit the game some day and get the second ending. This may give some more insight as to what's going on. As for the ending. I'll try not to spoil anything, but I'll say that to get it you have to talk to the lighthouse lady at certain point.

  16. In regards to what draws me in with your long series, it would have to be the fact that you engage with the game, the systems, and the story on a far more serious level than many Let's Players. I'll watch other channels if I feel the game is a good mesh for them to 'bounce off of' and be entertainers but if I'm truly interested in a game for its own sake, you're my go-to guy for the guided tour that lets the game shine rather than jumping in front with wacky youtuber hijinks. You take it slow, you fully engage, you think about what you're doing, you let the game show off its charms.

  17. Congrats you just doomed the world. Don't feel bad, we all do it. You can play the other ending simply by not giving the watch to the Collector and going to the Lighthouse Keeper instead. A quick ending from where you are.

Must admit you are the first person I've seen to choose both the bad ending first and not realise who the Collector really was or whose wife she really was.

The first DLC is now available and it certainly helps finding and remembering various locations.

Thanks I hadn't seen the ending with the collector accompanying you.

  18. Hi Odd! I've been watching your videos since Machine for Pigs, and I have to say, I really, really enjoyed watching this series! You asked us to tell you what you liked in so few words, so to answer you:
I loved how it was on theme for your channel, but it was a different vibe from a lot of the normal games of the same theme. It was a short series (which I really enjoy yous long plays too!) So it was easy to keep up with and binge. And the game itself was very simple to understand, the story was SUPER good, I really loved all the encounters and felt the same way you did every time you caught a new fish!
Thank you for finishing this game. Even with it being the "bad" ending, it was very cool and also gave the story closure. More indie horror games like this while doing AAA games really helps switch it up. Love your channel!

  19. This is the 3rd game I bought from watching your play-throughs and probably my fav indie game experience. Did not* expect a horror fishing game to be so immersive and even relaxing. While there's limited replay value, I imagine it'll still be great to dip back into the Dredge vibe now and then 🙂
