A deep look at Elon Musk’s first Mars base!!!
If the pinnacle technological triumph of the 20th century was landing humanity on the Moon, then in the 21st century, the greatest technological feat would be successfully landing humanity on Mars.
Elon Musk is famously driven by this vision, asserting that within our lifetime, not only will Mars be colonized, but the groundwork for its inaugural city will commence. But once you’ve reached the Red Planet, what comes next? Where will you reside? How will the first Mars base be constructed and established? Join us as we delve into these pressing questions on today’s episode of Alpha Tech!

Elon Musk for King 👑✨🪐🎟️🚕🙀🌌🚀🚀🚀👑 Mars-bound 👑 King of the World
Musk will take a boring machine to Moon and Mars and connect all things things underground and only have pop up facilities where needed
So much happiness and joy $47k weekly returns has been life changing. AWESOME GOD I now have a house and can now afford anything for my family even with my Retirement..
Inflatable?
No thanks!
Send the Nerds that came up with that concept to be test monkeys for it.
I'll wait for something metal….
Maybe stacks of Stainless domes that nest for transport, and connect with short tubes that are airlocks? Hex patterns, where they can be nestled in a small crater and "Marth" sheltered by pushing the crater rim over them with a Cat D-8 Atomic. (I'll skin the Cat from orbit via remote. Hold my beer!)
Then have bolt in floors, or the other hemisphere bolt together, set up for a storage basement area with water and air tanks, and lots of shelving.
Should be able to design the dome sections to stack nested for transport and build an intergal robotic handling crane that unloads them, onto the butt end of a Starship that acts as a lander.
Make the lander reusable and put stacks of the prefab stainless domes in Mars orbit. so the robotic crane on the lander handles them, lands and places them.
Suggest those domes be ten meters across.
Kind of the Mars standard.
I'll wait to immigrate until after the blow up girlfriend guys teach the surviving experts what everybody else knew all along about inflatables…
Wonder when the 2.0 will show up
How much CO2 is on Mars? 76%!!!!! And how can they work in that environment?
Starting habitats on Mars are likely be composed by tunnels on a cliff.
First build a base for at least a thousand people in Antarctica with a period of complete autonomy/isolation for more than 10 years as a relatively safe scientific experiment, and only then will there be at least some real basis for speculating about the possibility of a base on Mars (the Moon). There is enough non-science fiction without this.
H2O, "… believed…" is different from known. Changes probability of success.
Buildings:
There will be
I) high-riser buildings on Mars (initially made from a small number of "Starships" that for various reasons can not fly back to Earth),
II) normal height buildings,
III) Mars soil covered buildings,
IV) underground apartments (glass fiber light supplied)
+ underground infrastructure traffic tubes
+ underground supply tubes:
————————————————————-
The high-riser buildings initially will have heights of 40 m and above ("Starship" version 3 or later).
– Some "Starships" will be stacked by capable construction companies – for people who are willing to pay an upcharge for the view.
————————————————————-
Radiation protection + temperature management:
For radiation protection and
– additional temperature insulation
…inflatable outside shells will be added to those high-riser buildings.
N.B.: An inflatable test module already works like a charme on the ISS (International Space Station") since 2016:

——————————————————————————————————————
Underground infrastructure:
– Underground infrastructure most likely will be built by "The Boring Company":

I hope I live long enough to watch this happen!
Imagine there's a SpaceX division
W 30-50 employees planning this phase.
Where are the press releases?
❤❤🙏🙏💫💫
Why should a design capability like reuseability, work to negate the inherent flexibility of use of a spacecraft?
In fact a curved sheet of clear polycarbonate inside the tanks would make turning the tank into a windowed convertible structure a matter of drilling out a couple hundred rivets. It could be used as a greenhouse or observation post. Heck it could be the first fancy restaurant !
What will it take? The gooberment getting out of his way!
There is one point that Mars flight enthusiasts prefer not to remember . This is hard gamma and x-ray radiation in deep space . People will die if they fly to Mars .
What Bullshiit ! …… Stewpid Humaans … can barely get off Earth ! … and can barely tighten a Bolt in space … let alone build a City , mine Water , Farm , produce Energy and develop all machinery …. You would need 100s of difficult and Expensive Landings a year … which ain't Likely ………….. :-/
* DEEP SPACE TRANSIT TIME REDUCTION SCHEME *
Immediately begin the development of a "Port Tug Accelerator" space craft (featuring nuclear powered engines designed PUSH items to high velocities quickly). This specialized space craft will be used to PUSH (accelerate) any spaceship toward its deep space destination! The Port Tug Accelerator craft will push any deep space bound space ship only for a short distance and then let the deep space bound space ship glide to its destination with the high velocity provided by the Port Tug Accelerator craft. Place one Port Tug Accelerator craft stationed in lunar orbit until needed, and place a second Port Tug Accelerator craft in Mars orbit for Earth Return Trip velocity assists. This high speed accelerator system will reduce space ship fuel requirements and reduce travel time in space. (Thanks for your considerations and for sharing this concept!)
I want a window seat!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I know that if things did develop on Mars, that habitats would likely have LDC Screens for windows, with any scenery they want. I do hope that a type of transparent material similar to glass can be developed that would block radiation, yet allow settlers to look out at the real surrounding and the sky. Sometimes there are big dust storms in areas that last 3 to 6 months. Still, windows would be nice.
SpaceX will make its own plans on colonizing Mars and your statements about how it should be done , frankly will most likely not be the way Elon does it.
Nice to see such a rounded view of the plan ahead.😊
Gale isn't a volcano.
Untill a lauchpad is built on Mars how can the Starships be re-used.
Come on dude, this is obvious.
Just like the Moon, Mars will need to have an orbiting portal. This portal will comprise a docking station for arriving and departing Starships. Also fuel depots to refuel departing Starships and also shuttles which take gargo and or people down to and back up from the Mars surface.
The portal will also act as a com's relay station and also rescue station for the initial explorers.
These capabilities reduce risk to both astranauts and mission, providing redundancy and optionality.
Elon, in his reductionist viewpoint of no part is the best part, will cause huge loss of life when it comes to space flights to Mars; were there is only success or death as the outcomes. With such wafer thin margins of error one must build in redundancy and optionality and thua a Mars portal is a must in my view.
This is absolute utter total clickbait bullshit. Try this.
Construct a self sustaining self growing colony in Antarctica.
Transfer only stuff to the Antarctic colony as you would supply a Mars colony.
Your Antarctic colony will fail. Hence any Mars colony will fail. A Mars colony will be orders of magnitude more difficult than an Antarctic colony.
Self sustaining colonies have already been attempted on Earth, every one failed.
fwiw Mars has absolutely zero topsoil. You have absolutely zero chance of making/carrying sufficient topsoil to support a colony. It takes about an acre of land to support one person, and that is in an ideal environment.
ps your relative moderate temperature on Mars is 24F to -140F -5C to -100C permanent freezer like Antarctica
An Elon idea.
First, put a million solar panels on Mars….
It makes more sense to build out one of the caves on Mars to build a habitat. A cave will offer better protection from cosmic rays and radiation from the sun.
A good book on how to frugally colonize our solar system is Second Exodus Colony. Located at the Internet Archives. Read and learn. Free to pass along.
Mirrors to reflect radiation. Such nonsense!
There is no water at Gail crater and first landing should be at the poles or close to the ice caps. Gail crater is not logical and thr poles are.
Best AI voice that Alpha Tech uses. Needs some tweaking in pronounciation and more natural breath placement. However as it is: acceptable.
Maybe they should colonize all of Earth's deserts first…to test out the tech.
All of the designs are deeply flawed due to the toxic extremely fine martian dust. You would really need to be hermetically sealed from the martian environment, that means no egress. You could not just put on a suit and walk from structure to structure, at best it would be a very lengthy procedure with multiple cleaning stages. Go to Mars, live in a dome forever, although we might need domes on Earth the way we are going.
Hasn't anyone here tried to change a tire, on Earth, at 30 F ? All that construction work at MINUS 60 F ? Mars colonization by humans is a laughable con-job.
But those starships can be used for emergency evacuation while they establish a stable colony
Having some Starships repurposed as living quarters is in keeping with the concept of REUSE. It is also a brilliant idea, providing what would be an immediate need for the new settlers.
