From Season 4 Episode 5 “Hidden Danger”: Around the globe, more than six billion people have travelled on a Boeing 737. They’re the backbone of the aviation industry. But in 1991, something happened onboard a 737 that sent shudders through the world of aviation.

Almost two years after the crash, the NTSB had studied the crew, the weather, the rudder, and thousands of other pieces of evidence – but they can’t solve the mystery. For only the fourth time in its history, the NTSB released a report stating the cause of the crash of flight 585 was undetermined.

On September 7, 1994, a year after the report on Flight 585 is released, the killer strikes again. Another 737 – this time US Air 427 – crashes near Pittsburg. All 132 passengers and crew are killed. Investigators begin to quickly see some striking similarities between US Air 427 — and the unsolved case of United 585.

  1. Unlike the Boeing of today, I can't really blame them here; this issue was so unusual, and only triggered under such unique circumstances, it's impressive investigators even found the cause at all. It was very much a teachable moment for the industry, and it's a shame that so many died for it to happen. Also brings to mine British Airways with the freezing fuel causing the engines to fail – but only freezing under very specific flight profiles after reaching certain temperatures in the sky. Or the Quantas jet that suddenly had autopilot issues over a very specific part of airspace in the world where certain weather conditions could occur.

  2. Situations like this are difficult to solve since everyone from the "kook" witnesses, to manufacturers to insurance companies are lying to you. Everyone is wanting sensationalism, profit and/or rulings in their favor to avoid civil liability or make their case in suing another party. Everyone you talk to has a higher interest that just determining what happened and why.

  3. Let's take a moment and say a prayer for ALL those aboard and their Families.
NOW let's compare this crash site to the 9-11 supposed crash sight of the same identical kind. There a scraps of material here yet the 9-11 had not one IOTA of scrap of ANY KIND.
I'm NOT a conspiracy Theorist bu there seems to be inconsistencies between these two accidents.
I read that when they were about to excavate the 9-11 crash sight the FBI halted those efforts. Why would they do that? The Aviation Agencies are REQUIRED TO DO AS THOROUGH of an INVESTIGATION AS POSSIBLE. So Tell me WHY they stopped those investigations? Was it that there wasn't even a FULL SIZE AIRLINER that crashed there and those people were segregated off to another place? I know that doesn't make sense but there are some that say they are still alive and living another identity so preserve the LIE.

Like I said, I don't consider myself a theorist but there are some definite oddities here. You just have OPEN YOUR EYES and SEE the VARIED EVIDENCE and you're going to see there is a monstrous difference in the two crash sights.

  4. I was working for United when flight 585 went down. I was a Reservations Agent at United in the Washington D.C. center. We had a red light that would come on if there was an emergency. United set up a number for relatives to call and that we were able to transfer inbound calls to. It was so sad. People called in sobbing. Fortunately, most didn't have loved ones on the flight. Fortunately it was an extremely light load. 🙏🏻

  5. I love the series but I get the uploading complaints people have. There uploading and older episode again from season 1 through 12. You can fine the newer ones on YouTube just not on this particular YouTube channel.

  6. Thermal issues with various systems seem to have played a major role in a lot of these investigations.

In this case, the inner valve slides suddenly expanding due to the hot fluid faster than the larger casing could easily jam the control.

Mechanics use the opposite to get stubborn nuts off.

  8. As a pilot myself, I love watching these videos and learing about things that can and do go wrong, either with the plane, or through pilot error. The one thing in this video, that disturbs me the most is seemingly why was there no investigation on the metal fragments in the hydrolic fluid in the PCU valve? I cannot think of ANY reason why there would be metal shavings/fragments/particles in hydrolic fluid. What type of metal particles were they? Where did they come from? And why were they not examined. I find it odd that the NTSB never looked at that, or if they did, why it wasn't addressed in the video.

  9. I love this series so please dont take this the wrong way. I've watched every video that you all have put out but the least you could do is when you're going to upload the same story multiple times, you could at least in the title say its a reupload. Other than that, love what you all are doing. Cheers
