A Cost of Living Coronation? No Thank You! Gloomy Times Need Glamour, as with The Queen's Coronation

A Government Minister has said that the Coronation will not be “lavish” or “excessive”. Is that what we want for our most important ceremonial & constitutional event, and the first Coronation in 70 years? Royal Historian and broadcaster Rafe Heydel-Mankoo discusses this and other royal news items, including Australia’s decision not to replace The Queen with The King on its $5 note.

  1. Shi Jing Ping is the new “king” of Australia, he was mighty pissed at the nerve of KClll to want to be on the Aussie notes when he thinks he has done more for Australian politicians than royalty. Of course no one mentions the ongoing empire of debt building the Chinese regime is carrying out across Africa, America, north and south etc.

  2. Everyone to their opinion , but at least ask the Australian public relating to the paper currency (I am an Australian ) about the change I am deeply upset they did not consult us it’s an insult to take this step , I will think long and hard if and when we have a Referendum about Australia breaking with the Uk and will make that decision what is best for me when the time comes , but it HASN’T HAPPENED YET so they are jumping the gun .I thought we lived in a Democracy, we are going the way the American’s even the UK and chip by chip stone by stone taking that from us I WISH TO BE CONSULTED that’s why we vote Government’s in , to follow the people’s wish’s as per the policies we voted the party of choice in for . The Government SEEMS TO FORGET THEY ARE THE SERVANTS OF THE PEOPLE 😔😔😔

  3. I don't agree with the way the Australian Labor government is heading towards a republic. We are being inundated with First Nations publicity. . It will be interesting to see if the Australian Prime Minister attends the Coronation.

  4. we are going the same way as Saudi Arabia control was given to 2% of the nation ,and it is already happening in Austrlia ,,,a company wanted to drill for gas 200 kkm offshore but it was halted because it might offend the BIG SNAKE IN THE SKY,,,,,,SO NOW 98% of we Austrlians who have no land rights anywhere will be in a minority

  5. I see that most comments are Not about the "heafdline" topic, about the coronation coronation, but over the design for new Australian banknotes. Maybe understandable asw it is an Australian based clip. But back to the questiion in hand. I am English by birth, but havehappily lived in South East Sapin for the last 17 years.. Here when King Felipe Vl acceded to the throne after his father's abdication, the first thing he did was to cancel a proposed lavish coronation, saying that economically it could not be justified given the economic situation at the time. I have to say that despite this appropriate dedcision, the Spanish monarchy under King Felipe and his radiant wife Queen Laetitia, is doing quite well, thank you…!!
