I'm not that adventurous. Drop me off at the moon on your way by.
You are skipping right past the Nuclear war about 13,000 years ago that reduced 2 planets down to the rubble of the Asteroid & Kuiper Belts knocking Earth off of its perpendicular "Eden" spin axis while stripping Mars of its oceans & atmosphere. Exploding Kuiper knocked Uranus completely sideways! For some strange reason, Megaprojects believes that the gravity of Venus did not capture the matter blasted off the surface of Mars, WTF? It's basic physics!
Very cool video thanks for creating it.
Just invent a proper spaceship then you can zip off to a good planet in a few hours. Until then let's look after our house. Comprehensive insurance does not exist in space.
Simon. I have always loved your music interlude that sounds like Trent Reznor about to scream at me NiN style.
Have you seen the Expansion when the protomolecule asteroid hit the surface of Venus? What do you think about it?
Honestly anything that can lead to us getting off this ball of mud is a welcome idea.
I’d take this over Mars easily. I do think though our future in space probably will be mostly in O'neil cylinders or other kinds of artificial habitats. Venus could be a good way for us to learn how to make those better too.
Even if Earth gets less habitable, it would still be easier to fix things than start from scratch on another planet that wasn't an almost copy of earth
Resource extraction is the foundation of any colonial economy.
While Venus' upper atmosphere is (relatively) habitable, sourcing materials from the atmosphere severely restricts what you can build with, crippling any economy you might establish there. The dense atmosphere makes long term interplanetary commerce a nightmare too, as you cannot easily use mass-drivers to facilitate trade with other colonies.
It's an interesting option, I just don't see it having any future beyond as a science outpost. I doubt we'll ever see a self-sufficient colony there.
I'd rather be working in the mines on Mars, than stuck with my head in the clouds on Venus.
I feel like it would be hard to get people onboard with not having a "real ground". Just psychologically there is something about touching the dirt or ground of a place after having been at sea or in the air for a long time and not getting that feeling would be a nogo for me.
I'm a big fan of both ideas, but at my stage in life, I'd be happy to stay put and let younger people do the exploring. So I pick option C–stay home. 😜
The city in the clouds? Yeah, Han Solo knows where she's at… 😁😇🤟
I would prefer to turn myself into a robot and then go to mars. That seems to be the best way to keep the humans away.
Lando Calrissian: "Welcome to our city mung the clouds".
Yet another false dichotomy. Why not both and compare contrast. At some point it’s no longer worth being subscribed. Goodbye
The reason we know more about space then our ocean floor is because of pressure. So mars is in reality easier than venues
Okay… but how do you deal with all the killer robots who can erase you from history that are there?
that's all great but what would people go to venus for ? what kind of stuff does one get from venus that would be costlier to obtain from elsewhere ? When people talk about colonizing planets they forget that without an economic incentive no matter how habitable a planet is its pointless to go there.
Venus sounds like that movie the fifth element! Lol
Yeah for the foreseeable future we only have one option. Don't trash Earth!
It needs algae and lots of it , just think of earth before algae formed and its co2 levels are about the same, you're welcome
Admirable concept that has some merit but then big question in the end will always be what decides if we really do it–what do you do when you get there? Mars you can readily do resource gathering even though the environment sucks while on Venus, can you do the same with the gasses there? The Cloud City in Star Wars was a gas mining complex for collecting and processing a rare fictional compound. So far, the abundant resource is sulfuric acid which isn't something we're exactly short on.
dude venus is cgi
mars sucks and so you do
People act like parrots 🦜 just repeating , "it's a hellish" planet . Instead of thinking for themselves or actually doing they're own research . Saturn and Jupiter seem much more like "hell" ,at least Venus has a surface and besides the fact that Venus is a much better option than Mars in some variables ,. What are the elite hidding from us ?🐲👽
Lando Calrissian approves.
Also venus is closer to every other planet on average than earth is
A cloud city sounds awesome until the Empire takes over
Elon forget mars. Get the starship ready for Venus.
Maybe make a base in the moon first…
OOooopss, the guy who would be a school shooter was on Venus instead of earth and decided to join the local terror group of the cloud city. They blew up the damn ballooons so everyone crashed on the surface and died.
Seriously, there are sooo many horrifying risks with living outside earth. This is like being an early adopter of new tech, but putting your life on the line, and not just large amounts of money.
Humans shouldn’t leave this planet. They are too evil and self.
Ever since I was a kid I thought Venus was the better choice
What is once upon a time Venus sustained life, and then that life caused a runaway greenhouse effect, sound familiar.
Sulfuric acid (H2SO4) contains water. There's your source of H2 and water. O2 for breating. Use H2 for lift gas. There are no issues with using H2 for lift gas on Venus because there is no free O2 for it to react with. It's cheap and it has double the lift capacity of helium. The nasty sulfur can be dumped overboard. I don't think we're going to worry about contaminating the surface.
Can sulfur be used for something?
where do i sign up? cant find the link…👀😅
A successful Bio-Dome is needed first.
I choose to be crushed to death in acidic lava. I choose Venus!
