A Chilly welcome with new mechanics : Oxygen not included

So far we are using new food crops, new O2 production and Wood for power. This is a totally different start than we are used to. The question is how does that translate to the late game. Considering how the Oxylite is being produced I am hopeful it will be interesting.

  1. I'd recommend checking out the "True Tiles" mod on the steam workshop. It gives generic mineral and metal tiles distinct appearances that makes it easy to see, visually, what you're building your walls out of.

Good to avoid accidentally insulating your base with granite instead of igneous rock!

  2. Change to dope's sleep and light. Dim light doesn't keep them up anymore. So you can have a heater in the middle of a room. Not sure of dim light helps with the afraid of the dark debuff or not.

  3. I do not mean any disrespect to Magnet as his videos are great and hes a good player, but I was hoping that a certain FJ was going to hit this DLC soon and here we are 😍

  4. Going with the Base Game for this seems like a good choice. Spaced Out only really adjusts the starting Asteroid for this new DLC, which would be a quicker return to "business as usual" with the quicker access to a wider variety of materials in "normal quantities". The base game is a bit more … "restrictive".

The Frost Proof trait (β†’Freyja) feels like an early game "cheat code" in this DLC. It completely eliminates the duplicant's cold related troubles, so all wood can go towards making water (kettle) and electricity (pre-ethanol).

The new achievement was a fun little task, which was my only goal for the first colony. A proper long term base will have to wait.

    Edit:
    – I completely omitted the toilets initially, since the pee directly freezes anyway.
β†’ Ranching Priority – IIRC the delivery of wrangled critters to a drop-off is a ranching task, while every other ranching related task requires at least one skill point in ranching to do, so leaving the ranching priority for non-ranchers on either normal or even increased priority isn't that bad. Solves the "rancher wrangles critter(s), then goes on a break without delivering them to their target location"-problem.

  6. Proves Co2 is the gas of life not the horror world leaders are trying to make it out to be, without it we wouldn't be here, the more Co2 the greener the planet & O2πŸ€”πŸ€”πŸ˜ŠπŸ˜Š

  7. Would it not be more economical to put a bedroom near a permanent, non-heat generating light source like the printing pod for nyctophobic dupes? I would not want to waste the wood feeding a burner.
