With 2023 being a big year for FromSoftware, the studio is undergoing major changes. It was recently announced that lead composer Yuka Kitamura will be leaving FromSoftware after many years of creating OSTs such as Dark Souls 3, Bloodborne, Sekiro, and Elden Ring. There is also a new rumor that Dark Souls will be getting a Netflix anime adaptation. Bluepoint Games may also be working on a Bloodborne 2. And Armored Core 6 is seeing a big success after the recent gameplay and marketing push.

  1. dark souls 3 is my fav souls game BECAUSE of the music, IMO no other souls game has a better OST than this game and im just glad she made this happen and has made such great soundtracks for all the games, i can't express my appreciation enough for all her wonderous and hard work! she truly is a Legend

  2. I think it would be hilarious if the anime took a samurai Jack inspired vibe and had a main character who never said anything game changing plot wise but cracks jokes and learns item lore through tv magic as they decide on a build. I recommend deprived class for comedy’s sake

  3. People think armored core isn’t going to sell well?

I think it’s going to sell phenomenally well, not because it’s good or not, but because it’s developed by fromsoft.

I think a lot of people are going to be disappointed when they actually play it and realize it’s not a souls game.

  4. Yuka Kitamura's music is in a league of its own. Whilst it is disappointing to see her leave, on the flip side, this does give FromSoft a chance to find more talent to take her place, to spice things up so to speak.

  5. If the anime is a thing i could see it being about the dragon war and the original lords journey to end up where they are now. Who says it has to be about our journey when the game is so interestingly full of lore?

  6. i think it could work if u look at the ac6 videos thay have heavy dialog on the radio so translating that into a show could easly work. now what its gonna be about is tricky cause it could be many things , about how the bosses came to be, characther back story like how and why did the namless king side with the dragons i can see it being a juice over the top drama story aganst his father (tho its kinda a secret story so probably that wont be the first pice of story thay will put out.) dark souls 3 story lines conect to each other so re exploring these ideas could work too but the end of the day if fromsoftwear is not ivolved then what ever it is its a 50/50 chance being good or not

  7. Wow a woke DS anime… so cool… NOT! Netflix is TRASH. Look at their woke Castlevania. Race swapping like crazy with the rainbow s*x scenes too. Youtube gonna give me another 24-hour comment ban for sayin this too? Probably.

  8. I'd see dark soul anime as a normal dude living on earth then one day this one dies by an accident or discover a mysterious place then he gets dragged into that universe. The only way he can escape is to beat all bosses. During his voyage, he will also meet other players that may want to be his allies or enemies.

  9. I could see a Dark Souls anime being more about the lore rather than the game. Telling the stories of the Nameless King and Gwyn's four knights. Things like that. I feel like It would be harder to achieve for Dark Souls, and Elden Ring has a more straightforward way of storytelling, and the open world setting does feed into that. Dark Souls can be more confusing, because of it's vagueness, and the fact that it's a trilogy wouldn't help either. Anyway, that's what I think.

  10. If the DS anime is real, i hope Netflix has NO direct intervention and let whoever studio works on it, do so freely.

To be honest, when i try to picture a DS anime there's a little inspiration that comes to my mind: "Angel's Egg".

  11. Only two Armored Core titles have ever broken 0.5 million units in global sales, AC2 and AC3. But ever since Dark Souls, most mainline subsequent FromSoftware titles have sold better and better, with Elden Ring breaking 20 million sales earlier this year. FromSoftware has cultivated a following. AC6 stands to be the best selling Armored Core game ever. Even if only half of the Souls/Bourne/Ring players get into it, it's still breaking 10 million units in global sales. That is an accomplishment all of its own for a title that has been obscure for far too long.

  12. please god no dont let netflix touch dark souls, they literally ruin everything they touch, leaving us embittered because they cant seem to stay faithful to source material

  13. I hope Yuka has either already finished the Shadow of the Erdtree ost, or will be contracted to make more. I really think that a huge important piece of the souls experience would he missing without her music

  14. The thing about AC 6 vs Starfield. I personally isn't watching anything about Starfield except what was shown at the xbox showcase. I want to explore the game not knowing anything and finding out stuff for myself. AC6 is more a game that i really just look at everything and see if i would like it or not. I do believe Starfield is the next Skyrim and i have full confidence in that it will be an epic journey. AC6 iam not so convinced 🙂

  15. I hope Yuka worked on Shadow of the Erdtree before leaving. The Divine Dragon theme is my favourite composition of hers (and there's some tough competition, like Sir Alonne, or Gael). I'm excited to see where she'll venture next.

  16. I don't think Dark Souls translates to a show or movie well at all. You've got two options, focus on the plot of the lore or the plot of the game, and neither will translate well with the audiences.

The lore has a better shot but even then, a big deal of the lore is that almost lovecraftian quality of not having all the puzzle pieces. IT means they'll also need to make concrete answers, if those answers aren't canon what's the point, and if they are canon than a lot of people are going to be unhappy. That being said the war of the ancient dragons is probably your best bet. It's very hollywood, just good old fashion greek and norse mythology style gods vs previous rulers of the world.

The plot of the games is likely what they'll do and it's even worse of a prospect because they'll need to give a (likely extremely diverse) face to the CU, whether it be a sorcerer, a cleric, a pyromancer or dex bro or even giant dad, the fact is giving them a canon would be weird. And I doubt they'd keep the melancholic and isolated feel to the story.

Honestly I'd say the best bet in that vein would be to have them be another undead who attempted far earlier and flat out dies and fails at the end, after everyone they knew(except Patches and Cresty) falls. Maybe even give let their end be where a pillaging corpse is in the games for some extra meta fanservice. Though netflix would never have the balls for that, nor the respect.

  17. The anime will be butchered mark my words.

But the worse news is Yuka Kitamura leaving From Software. The OST of Fromsoft games will never be the same 😭

  18. Is Netflix actually a really good job on it, then the dark souls anime should definitely be about patches. He is in every single game, which would help the story considering patches is in every game, and it would help shed light on an already awesome character, and if any new characters had to be introduced, they can somehow be a victim of patches considering the kind of man he is

  19. There are certainly some cinematographic techniques that can be used to appropriately adapt, someone like Hayao Miyazaki I can see properly making a decent anime movie out of it, giving it that typical Ghibli vibe that fits Dark Souls (especially the first and second entries) really well, provided he's willing to make another big comeback and decides to collaborate and receive input from Hidetaka Miyazaki.

This way the story can remain cryptic and fascinating but also carry with it some masterful story telling.

The story probably shouldn't be of the player character or any other major NPC, but rather the inhabitants of the world and the lore immediately before the game.

I have some other ideas, but this I believe to be the safest route to making a successful anime that revolves are the world of Dark Souls.

I can see other directors really making something out of the Dark Souls universe, but it would require a far more inspired mind that truly understands the game and its lore to the fullest extent, in order to give us something great.
