A Better Glock? SHADOW SYSTEMS XR920 Review | Tactical Rifleman

Shadow Systems has become famous for putting out some great pistols with great features.
Today we are gonna do a review of the Shadow Systems XR920 Foundation, Semi-auto, 9mm, 4″ Barrel, 17+1 Rds., with the Holosun HS407C X2 already mounted out of the box.
This Shadow Systems Handgun, in my opinion, is just as good (or better) than a Glock MOS… but remember, this setup (gun with the optic already mounted) can only be bought from Sportsman’s Guide. When you go to Sportsman’s Guide, be sure to use coupon code: TACTICAL20

  1. The MR920 has been my carry/duty pistol for 2 years now and has been flawless with thousands of rounds. Had my gunsmith look it over for excess wear and he said had I not told him I had 10k plus rounds he would not have believed me. There is only 1 trigger no matter the level but it has a strong reset that is the key to quick splits IMHO.

Pick one up and you will never regret it!

  2. One aspect that is frustrating about Shadow Systems is that I have not been able to find the ability to buy just the slide from anywhere. In particular, the ability to buy a non-optic ready slide. Their optic ready setup is awesome if you're running an open emitter (prior to the release of the RCR)– pretty slick to be able to run the Deltapoint Pro footprint or the RMR footprint without a plate by just moving the plastic piece around. But you're out of luck and must run a plate if you have a clamp style optic like the 509T/ACSS Vulcan or Aimpoint P-1/P-2.

I have read that some people are able to run stock Glock Gen 3 uppers but have not tested that myself.

  3. I paid for the combat version of the 920 the grip angle and the trigger I feel that’s what I paid more for that a regular Glock I used it on my level 3 security license did better than my work qualification with a standard Glock that’s why I carry it

  4. If you are looking for ammo that will make your gun work like crap. Look no further than that Russian made, Wolf brand ammunition. In just 100 rounds of the caliber you use. You will have failures. I tested Wolf ammo with .45-auto. A total of 150 rounds of Wolf was shot. Saying it was filthy was an understatement. Started getting hang fires on every round shot. Never bought another box of Wolf. Expect the same performance using another Russian made ammunition called Silver Bear.

  5. I had an xr920. With a tlr8 and a delta point pro mounted on it. One day, I set it down on my nightstand in a hurry because I had to go to the bathroom. It fell off my nightstand onto my padded and carpeted floor. One of the tabs on the back of the frame that holds the slide on decided to sheer in half and the slide proceeded to fall off the frame. It fell 1.5 feet onto carpet and because 100% unusable. They have a warrenty which I then called them up and sent it to them promptly. After weeks of them having it I finally emailed them asking what's going on. They told me they were waiting for frames to be allocated to the warrenty department. After about another month they contacted me saying it was on its way back. As soon as I got it back I sold it and bought an HK. I will hands down choose a glock over these things every day, all day. Shadow systems are literal cheap junk made to look fancy built as cheaply as possible for a larger profit. I will forever tell people this as to hopefully convince someone else of avoiding the mistake of buying one. Terrible pistols, terrible customer service. Terrible price. When you can buy a glock and put a few things on it to make it shoot better, for less money…. why would you buy this?!?! I know people are praising them but they are lipstick on a pig.

  6. I see a lot of mags on the table; are those the magpul mags that come with the pistol? How do those magpul mags run? Do you shadow systems owners stick with the magpul mags?
