OBVIOUS SPOILERS ALERT YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!
A 9 Year Coma – Metal Gear Solid V Revisited
I recently replayed MGS 5 & here are my fresh thoughts on the game!
Let me know down in the comments what you think!
The first title I played on PS4, phenomenal game loved the Platinum journey and amazing series overall on many fronts. Personally I always enjoyed the concept of Venom Snake and his important phantom role in the saga but I'd plenty of pals who absolutely hated it. Great video boyo, exciting times with the MGS3 remake as well.👻🐍🍀
This was definitely a game that severely disappointed me when it launched. Loved the first hour of the game, the Factory of Death scene, and the final boss fight. Everything else just felt…meh. I do wonder if I revisit it now though with a different expectation if I’ll enjoy it more like you did. Great video man!
Your thoughts now are roughly my thoughts back then.
– Lack of David Hayter was disappointing, but Keifer wasnt "bad" so I never held that against it. (Annoying tho)
– The story was and still is superb. The angle of language being weaponised is brilliant.
– The "unfinished" complaints were everywhere, I understand that it literally was cut, but as you say here, "the weight of the story" hangs with you and has you questioning. Even tho it wasnt intended to be like this, it is ironically very Kojima, he very rarely (if ever) ties up a story within the entirety of 1 game.
– Open Worlds are not my thing, but this was very different in the sense that it all seemed tight. Wether it was a story mission or a side mission, it kept me focused.
I am so close to the plat on this, I need to do a few missions and capture some animals.
9 years….its almost "retro" lol
I love how the bait and switch with Venom provided a much more "realistic" reason for why Big Boss didn't die in Metal Gear because it was actually venom that was killed. Even MGS2 I didn't get to play it right away so I knew you didn't play Solid much. I also enjoyed seeing him from a 3rd person perspective.
GZ and PP together made up an epic end to Big Boss' main story and I loved them both. I do still feel mission 51 tied up the very last plot thread that was unfinished but it wasn't the end of the world for tying in the main story but it would've been nice to get some more stuff for Eli.
Instill rate PP as an utterly outstanding game with so much to do. It's typical Kojima in depth silliness and stuff to do outside of just the story.
Great overview mate.
I think I'm going to go back and revisit this one. I never finished it and found myself getting lost in the side quests. I'm not a huge fan of the open world here but I think it deserves a second chance
I absolutely adored this game when it came out, just a shade below the first game to me. A technical marvel, and some of the best open-world gameplay I've seen even still. I need to revisit it eventually. But it's honestly exceptional imo.
I loved this game, perhaps it was easier as someone who isn't a massive fan of the series, with MGS2 being the only one I played all the way through, so I could just take it at face value.
The gameplay was terrific and a technical marvel at 1080p 60fps on the PS4, I had a lot of fun doing my own missions and extracting high ranking officers, all whilst having 80's music blaring out of my helicopter
It definitely deserves revisiting considering I only partially played it on release. I think a lot of people might have a different opinion on the game if they go back to it. Others probably decline to play it ever again lol
Your video makes me want to revisit this game. I played maybe 1 hour of it and put it down. Never to take it up again. I totally agree that MGS2 was one of the best, but I didn't see it at the time, because of, well, Raiden
Another one that I ve poured a few hours into but never finished. I heard the ending wasn't great but I wouldn't know as I haven't seen it 😂😂😂
I really should hop back on to this one soon
Another cracking video mate.
I hop into the game to smoke a cigar among the Afghan dunes, listening to Duran Duran on a cassette player. It's a vibe game.
