  1. A Pokemon land has so much potential, and the Pokemon stadium show sounds super cool. I'd spend way too much money on the interaction stuff😂. They could have Pokemon snap, safari zone, and wild area rides, a silph tower dark ride, they could even do what I'd call "evolution" roller coasters where you could have different launch tracks based on the type of evolution you want to choose, like for Charmander/Charmeleon/Charizard if you choose Charmander you get a low intensity thrill experience, Charmeleon gives you moderate, and Charizard gives you intense.

  2. Y'know, since its called "SUPER Nintendo Land", what if we were to make a park themed just to the SNES's greatest hits?
Obviously Super Mario would still be the most prominent land. You've got World, All-Stars, Kart, and Yoshi's Island to use as your inspiration.
Next land, just as Universal is doing, would be a land themed to the Donkey Kong Country trilogy.
After that, a Hyrule themed land based on A Link to the Past.
The Tomorrowland equivalent would be themed to Star Fox.
And finally, something for the adults. This may be controversial, but I think its an overlooked franchise: Killer Instinct. Yes, it was a totally transparent knockoff of Mortal Kombat & Street Fighter's premise and characters, but it was all Nintendo.

  3. I said it before and I’m saying it now! Kidzone should be turned into “Universal Legacy” featuring E.T., JAWS, and Back to the Future. With a new prop shop and a sit down restaurant called “The Legacy”. I want a JAWS version of Shanghai Pirates and a Back to the Future roller coaster where you go 88 MPH.

Also, I’m interested what IAn wanted F&F to be. What’s not on the nose? Instead of Hall of Presidents we get a “Hall of Family”??? Pleeease elaborate lol. Otherwise, let’s replace Orlando’s F&F with an indoor roller coaster.

Finally, our parade needs to be Japan Level!!! There parade is one of the best I’ve ever seen!!!

  4. I’ll cry when I walk into Epic, I know it 100%! Huge Nintendo/Potter fan, I cried after riding Hagrids I’ve never cried after riding a ride, that ride is a stand alone for anyone to enjoy even if you have no knowledge about Harry Potter. Superb!

  5. I really hope we get a Jurassic themed coaster instead on the lower lot then fast and furious Hollywood drift because that just sounds horrendous and I think it is very uncreative to have a coaster themed after fast and Furious It's very stretching it

  6. Hollywood Universal DESPERATELY needs a decent coaster!!! Something like Hagrid’s, or something that goes from the upper, to lower lot. I understand land there is tight, but their Nintendo land will be TOO SMALL, and the park in general is B O R I N G (other then Jurassic World water ride). I’ve been going for 45 YEARS, and the place is Meh at best.

  8. Another rumor going around is the fast and furious theme has been scrapped and they might do a Jurassic themed coaster. I doubt they’d change it that last minute but maybe something to think about. Plus, if it’s bigger and faster than velocicoaster then maybe an indo theme would be cool.

  9. Your Pikachu impression raises an interesting question for me. What will Pokemon cries actually be in the inevitable eventual Pokemon land?

To elaborate, in the games, Pokemon do not say their names. They make other sounds, either an (attempt at based on the limits of the video game hardware of the time) animal cry, or the sound an object makes if it's one of the more object-like Pokemon.

In the anime, they made it so they say their names, because the anime is basically a commerical for a Pokemon of the week to advertise merchandise of that specific Pokemon, or to just generally familiarize little kids with a Pokemon, because it's a lot easier to remember the name of the Pokemon if it's said a hundred times in an episode.

Then you have the spin-off games, which generally used anime style cries… Until the last few years, where they started to go with voice acting where the actors try to make animal sounds, or just sound effect sounds, though different from the main series cries. Examples of this are Pokken and New Pokemon Snap.

Once we hit the 3DS, Pikachu's cry was replaced with the anime voice in the main games, and once we hit the Switch Eevee was also given a voice acted cry similar but different to Pikachu. However, in the most recent game, Pokemon Legends Arceus, Pikachu and Eevee have been reverted to their old non-voice acted cries.

So the thing is, aside from the anime, the series actually seems to be trending away from Pokemon saying their names, aside from maybe Pikachu, and I wonder (and personally hope since it's my preference) if a Pokemon theme park land would actually have Pokemon sound more like they do in Pokken and New Pokemon Snap.

Woh that ended up being a lot longer of a rant than I realized it was hahahahaha.

  10. Alicia asked Ian if he had seen the Western town and he said, "Nope." and she didn't even notice!

Wouldn't it be sad if Yoshi was a "surprise" addition? What is weird, though, is you don't enter the land from the second floor of Peach's castle, but the first. I think this was done to accommodate a Yoshi ride. Back when we were getting drone footage – the satellite view isn't up-to-date – the second-floor here and around to the pyramiddy buildings is shaped just like the Yoshi ride. Which suggests it actually was part of the original plan, which only makes sense. They would've had to prove it would actually fit before making the decision whether to build it or not. (I just cut-and-pasted-and-spun-it-around and it does totally fit, except the part over the boundary between Donkey Kong Country and SNW. Well it would fit if the ride went right through the Castle tower, but there's a lot of space behind it, so I think the original plan was to change a few straight tracks to curved.) I think the decision was that the money would better spent on the more-elaborate and way-more-needed Secret Life of Pets, which is the same ride system inside a more-fulfilling experience in an area that wouldn't be jam-packed with people. I think this is why SLoP was much more of a surprise, relatively speaking.

  11. First time “watching” this podcast but I’ve seen a lot of your videos but honestly if you guys had visuals for this pod it would amazing, both of your guys voices are REALLY well for podcasting so I can just imagine just the full experience and it would be great! Nonetheless great podcast & if you guys need any news on down low for epic let me know… 🫣 I know a few things behind the scenes 🤪

  12. I'd much prefer a Zelda expansion over a Pokemon expansion since I imagine there's more opportunity there to make it really immersive and pretty, but I gotta say the AR Pokemon Stadium stage show sounds like a genius idea.

  13. thinking IOA should just finally give in after Epic opens and retheme Lost Continent to Zelda. Really not too much they would have to do, and to get a show even, and an attraction would be simple! They could even go as far as keeping it "Lost Continent: Zelda" as a homage! 🙂 This would open up so much and not keep it focused on one particular game.

  14. Why would japan replace spider-man who is liked in japan thanks to the old tv show when they have a outdated t2 stunt show right next door? They also have backdraft and the shrek and seseme street theatre if hunter x hunter and sailor moon leaves with the end of cool summer. They will need a replacement. Plus japan is the only other park in the world other than Florida that can have spidey and its merch so why lose that. T2 or backdraft would make more sense for pokemon.

  15. I think it would be cool to see universal get the rights to skylanders and do something skylanders related in the lost continent area ! Another idea would be he-man or she-ra !

  16. I think you made an interesting point with how the Nintendo lands are based on the current games. As you said, Mario works well because Mario 3D World played it safe in some aspects. I’d say that based on the concept art, DK looks to be based on both DKC Returns and Tropical Freeze. Pokémon, also as you mentioned, doesn’t need to be one specific game. Zelda is the big one I’m really curious about. It can’t be based on multiple games, as each individual mainline game, with some exceptions, takes place at a different points in the franchise’s timeline with different versions of Link and Zelda. The franchise has reached a new level of popularity thanks to Breath of the Wild. I’m curious if they will go with that or something like Ocarina of Time. Skyward Sword was the most recent game before BOTW, but I’d be surprised if they went with that, as it didn’t have the best reception and isn’t vanilla Zelda the same way parts of Mario 3D World are for that franchise. I do wonder if Universal gets to take a peak at future game entries in development for the purposes of designing these lands. Either way, the potential for what Universal can do with Nintendo is exciting.
