Barns full of Alvis TD21, TE21 and TF21 parts and restoration projects greeted me recently on a trip over to Chris Prince Ltd, a specialist of many decades in the supply of parts to suit post-war Alvis cars. A huge thanks to Chris for taking time out in his day to walk me around his impressive new and used parts stores, plus his own collection of assorted restoration projects. I admit to being very taken by several of the โbarn findโ Alvis TD21 fixed head cars that were dotted around his buildings and would happily have brought one or two home with me, perhaps fortunately funds and space put paid to that notion for the timebeing.
As well as complete restorable examples of the Alvis TD, TE and TF range, there were quite a few cars in Chrisโ collection that were well beyond economical restoration but could still yield useful parts to help keep other examples of these fine classic cars on the road. Several of the earlier Alvis TA21 saloons were also in evidence. I donโt think Iโve ever visited an establishment with such a vast assortment of new and use parts in stock, especially bearing in mind that these fine motor-cars were not produced in huge numbers in the first place.
Thanks also to Chris for sharing some Alvis TD21 etc buyerโs tips on where to look for rot, both in the extensive ash framing incorporated within these cars but also in the chassis box sections, illustrated in this video by a close look at a bare rolling chassis that happened to be accessible.
Overall, a very interesting morning. To find out more about Chrisโ spare parts service for the post-war Alvis, please see his website: https://www.chrisprince.co.uk/
Itโd be great to visit similar businesses and collections like this in future, if you know of anywhere like this supporting other makes and model of vintage and/or classic cars, or perhaps private collections of amazing old cars restored or unrestored barn finds, please drop me a line.

Thank you for another interesting day out no rain and home safely loved the video.
who dosen't love an Alvis. The age old question is what is a collective of Alivs called " Alvi" maybe๐
Great video RJ, fascinating place and Chris seems to be a nice guy and he knows exactly what he has there.
What a stunning place ! 60 years ago, when I was a school boy, a friends Dad had an Alvis, and I was always envious of him, even then, thinking what beautiful cars they were. What an excellent service Chris is providing – you need it, Chris will have it – somewhere. Great video Rick, and so interesting to learn about the cars construction. Thanks for sharing, and yes – more of this type of video would be fun too. Take care ๐
Great vid. What an Aladdinโs cave of wonderful old cars
I think the word obsession comes to mind . The TD bodywork is so complex and prohibitively expensive to repair l think the greater part of this collection will never see the light of day . And alas , the same can be said for the collection of parts . Thanks Richard
In the past there were so many different makes of luxury cars to choose from, Alvis, Lanchester, Armstrong Siddeley, Humber, Bristol, Jaguar, Daimler, Rolls, Bentley etc.
I hope Mrs OCC is on board with the upcoming Alvis project coming to the channel shortly !!! ๐
That first Alvis, only needed a bit of filler. Always enjoy your enthusiasm for four wheel transport. Ride on Old Classic Car.
Fascinating video, certainly one of the most gorgeous post war British cars ever produced, especially the dropheads.I recall as a boy seeing a primrose -yellow Graber bodied TE 21 drophead with chrome wire wheels parked up in London which left such a lasting impression , one of the most beautiful cars I have ever seen .

The discovery is a future classic as well.
What a great vid at a fasinating place, I love seeing collections like this. Well done ๐
Well Done! Rick, an excellent video I enjoyed the format. My love is Jaguar so maybe a visit to Barrats would be good
Good to see that Elvis hasn't quite left the building yet! Puts me in mind of many years ago a friend had a TD21 drop-head and some of the antics we got up to… possibly not best talked about on a public forum! Keep up the good work and look forward to more 'finds'….
He may be an enthusiast and a restores BUY Why One Earth would anyone leave such rare cars outside to rot away and turn to dust, Just for the sake a ยฃ10 tarp
A great video. More of this type would be greatly appreciated, if possible. Thanks.
Nice video would of liked a bit of info on that steam engine, my grandad s younger brother had a couple of Alvis second one in mid sixties when i was small kid
Growing up in the fifties and sixties the Alvis was a rare sight,in my area at least.
What an incredible place. It's great to know that in today's world there are still beacons of yesterday shining bright.
I love an Alvis, especially the elegant TC21 'Grey Lady'. Great to see there's stock available at Chris's place but I fear that his stock will outstrip the demand in the long term unless a lot of young enthusiasts suddenly develop an interest in Alvis cars. Found the video interesting and sad in equal measure.
Lovely old Alvi. Henry was the star of the show wanting to be petted.
Really enjoyable
I like to see more videos like this
Try to find a stash of prewar Alvis!
This was another enjoyable episode, thanks!

As with all your videos there is always an item that drags me down memory lane, and this video is no exception as it has examples of a an Alvis drophead of which in the late '50s an uncle had a second hand one in two tone black and white which I remember fondly. Alvis cars were usually owned by people for their restrained quality and beauty that lacked of what is called 'show', just like Daimlers were owned by discerning people whereas spivs and nouveau riche had Rollers to show off in!
Thanks for another jem!
Rob
Alvis is alive, and seen living in a shed in Shropshire !!!!๐
Ooops, wrong Elvis !!!!๐ ๐
A great video fantastic place with top cars
Thank you
The web site is also very good
I think videos of other car specialists is a good idea
Thanks for your time another treat๐๐๐ฎ
Well that was different and very enjoyable. People with such knowledge are sadly few and far between. If I had an Alvis I would know where to turn parts. I do like these cars, such lovely lines. Thanks Rick for the video and thanks to Chris for showing us around. Finally may the cats keep up their good work, nothing worse than mice in a classic car! ๐๐
All I can Say is WOW! What a place. Those post war Alvii (?) are so great looking. Here in the US they are a very rare sight and then only at concours or the Hershey, PA Fall meet. Thanks to Chris for letting you have a look around his pile. Yes, if possible, I'd like to see more of this kind of visit on the OCC network.
