I love this show.
A Roadshow without David Walker is like the Cuyahoga without its flames
Oof .. the painting of the child is absolutely hideous. I wouldn't want to be in the same room as it.
31:17 usually "mid century" refers to the 50s/60s, not art deco style, which is the 20s/30s
The diamond watch pendant is stunning!
The pressed steel truck is Ukraine flag colors👍
It makes me so happy to see the genuine joy these people experience on learning the value of their items 🙂✨️🙂
For a “primitive” portrait it’s very sophisticated…exquisite. Never liked that term whether applied to humans or their objects. In my opinion the drawings of former slave children are a priceless historical artifact. They are also deeply moving.
Naomi's autographed dress from 2020 valued at 350 was it? Someone call Ashley as the dress was probably in the 1000s to make.😒 Shes hardly been gone that long.
35:14 the drawings of those kids r precious beautiful n at same time heartbreaking —would b nice to know what happened to them after the war.
Mayb the owner would consider selling lending or donating them to the African American Smithsonian museum in DC given their rarity, where some scholarship n research can b conducted on the history of the items.
I watch this for education and entertainment value. Google it for yourself do not destroy your Martin Guitar by taking the ivory off😮 only three states in the whole Union or completely illegal to sell antique ivory the rest of them no problem at all selling not Martin guitar🎉
Antiques Roadshow is the best!
The children from the school in Baton Rouge during the Civil War were noted as "contraband" scholars because this was before the Emancipation Proclamation. Until then, slaver was still legal in all states except where state law prohibited. As slaves they were the property of the plantation, but since the Union had control of the area, they were legally contraband. A reminder of the inhuman institution of slavery, and the evil that endorsed and fought to protect it.
Judith Brown this brought you to mind for some reason. How are you and the kids?
I wouldn't give two cents for the Mexican pot.
You Learn a lot from the. Show
I liked the folk child portrait. The owner's reaction was as precious as this realistic piece.
His statement regarding the Martin guitar and that she would have to remove the ivory bridge because of CITES (endangered species laws) was incorrect. The guitar is an antique with manufacture date of 1929 prior to such protective laws and thus not illegal or prohibitive to own or have.
Suzanne Perrault, always bringing class to any show.
I could watch the Road Show 24/7,absolutely love it👍
Its crazy that the guy told the lady she should have the skinny piece of ivory removed from her antique guitar. The laws concerning ivory would not even apply to such an antique item . Who would even know or care about such a sknny little piece of ivory¿
Why do people get so excited when they hear the insurance value? That just means they have to pay more to insure it.
❤❤❤ Wow wow wow! The teacher's notes and drawings! ❤❤❤
For Bill Waterson? I would pay those prices right now. Wow.
This show is a visual history lesson. Love It!!
Essex is not on the CT coastline.
Love the show and all the pieces🥰
This is all junk.
Love the show and all the pieces. The diamond watch pendant is stunning!.
19:40 "Really?" Irony.
