If you are running Nex mod, after capturing a planet if you talk to planet admin on comm board you can give control of the planet to a faction of your choice. Which affects how said faction views you, just be sure to take stuff out of storage before you leave the planet. You'll notice monthly income tanks of you don't. They really like storage fees those new planet owners.
Let the galaxy burn.
Everyone hates you because you just genocidally glassed a colony.
There are more tactful ways of achieving the same goal,
without opening a war on multiple fronts.
If you build a Megaport occasionally a rival faction
will launch a fleet to disrupt it's operation, with the purpose
of reducing your factions market share of the particular goods produced there.
This is just good old fashioned protectionism and industrial espionage.
An economic matter,
nothing that would warrant international condemnation,
like your new found pariah status.
You could apply the same business strategy to your desired target.
Raid them, 3-4 times, to reduce stability to zero,
and relieve them of specialised equipment, Nanoforges for example.
Then disrupt their Spaceport, to reduce their accessibly to zero,
stopping them from importing the goods needed to stabilise the market
and avert the crisis.
Then just sit back and let nature take it's course,
as the colony's deteriorating conditions spirals out of control.
And as far as the sector is concerned,
their governments inability to handle a crisis
certainly wasn't your war crime 😉
I love apogees. Still want a bigass carrier named after me
