1,500 UK personnel in Nato rehearsal defending Estonia from invasion

Troops from all three services of the British military have taken part in a major Nato exercise in Estonia.

Exercise Spring Storm sees 1,500 British personnel join servicemen and women from 11 Nato countries, the first time the UK has conducted a brigade-sized deployment to the country.

Brigadier Giles Harris, Commander, Nato enhanced Forward Presence, told Forces News the exercise was about “beginning to visualise and understand the planning to pull forward a brigade into Estonia in a time of crisis”.

  1. Have the British Army ever thought of defending their own country from the mass invasion happening daily on our south coast? Or maybe defending us against the corrupt and traitorous UK government and their relentless attack on democracy and freedom of speech?

  2. We may be a small military overall but still well respected across the globe especially in the former Baltic States who feel extremely grateful for our support, the British government needs to wake up though and increase its strengths all-round,

  3. As a UK tax payer, I'd prefer to see our Armed Force's deployed protecting our South-Eastern border, we're being invaded! The fact that they're not, supports the theory that successive UK governments are encouraging illegal migration into the UK?!

  4. There are similar battle groups in Latvia and Estonia, as well. They are not only there for rapid response, they are "tripwire" forces that will be quickly reinforced if the Russians try anything in that direction. The Russians have stated their intention to re-occupy the Baltic countries but their capacity to do so has likely left the barn.

  5. Its crazy how years ago the consensus was that the baltics couldn't hold their territories against an invasion, when nowadays the possibility of Russia even crossing the border became almost impossible.

  6. The Russian military is incompetent.
The last thing Putin would want to do is start a war with NATO.
The Russian can't even win against Ukraine.
Estonia is safer now than it has ever been.

  7. I just hope that all the lessons learnt from the Ukrainians massive successes are being integrated into this exercise and skills further honed. E.g. extensive use of drones with associated coordination, portable antitank weaponry etc. The narrative here gave me the impression it was old tactics and equipment.

  8. We are determined to not lose any more countries to a dictator. NATO is strong, we are ready. We don't wish to invade, we wish for peace. Russia needs to calm down. Counter insurgency is much different from invading a European country. Russian people are one of 3 things. Purposely oblivious. Anarchists, or like many countrymen around the world: dedicated to the success of their motherland. Putin needs to retire, and the structure he created needs to reevaluate its position in the global scale of things.
