In this highly anticipated second part of my kitchen makeover series, I take on the challenge of reorienting my kitchen space with my contractors and finding the perfect countertops to complement my design aesthetic. I’ve learned throughout this process that weighing the pros and cons of various options, and ultimately making big decisions is way harder than I thought when it comes to a kitchen.
But the journey towards a dream kitchen is not without its bumps in the road. In this video, I also open up about my growing sense of regret about undertaking this makeover project. From unexpected expenses to unforeseen complications.

❤Quartzite
I'm in on the quartzite 🤔
left countertop right one imo too busy
Please choose the quartzite countertop.
Verde
NOT marble. So pretty, but too fragile for a high-traffic surface. (Unless you are into sealing it and worrying about it regularly…or you won't worry about it).
I made this mistake with Soapstone. Gorgeous slab with a stunning pink quartz vein through it, but in the end, such a pain to care for. But I'm a person who has chosen a vehicle color that "is as close to dirt color as possible". I don't like the fuss and I want things to look clean with minimal effort.
As much as the aesthetic matters, for me, I've found best outcomes when I start with durability/cleanability.
FWIW I'm an Interior Designer
I would not thought of adding the black upper cabs to around the frig … great add. Definitely quartzite
Marble
Go with the quartzite, it matches your space better. Plus the maintenance on the marble will be a pain in the butt you don't need!
I love how many times you say the lower cabinets aren’t black when the color you chose is literally called “black beauty” 😂
Calacatta all the way!
Yay! I've been waiting 😅
I think the quartzite will tie it together coz it leans towards warm. The editing on the pendant convo was hilarious though😂
If I had to choose I would do the green! I loveee! Keeping it earthy and cozy and still have the clean and rich look
I'm going to renovate my kitchen probably next year. I'd LOVE LOVE to know what you learned and what you'd do differently. We live in the same area so having a creator like you nearby is SO AWESOME! And pick the quartzite. So much easier to maintain!
Marble babe!!!
Quartzite gets my vote…..I think it is prettier and the durability is outstanding.
The green marble looks like an amazing DREAM!
gyro sounds like yearo in GREEK
Love marble but from the functional side ist veryyyyyy annoying😢 stains super easily, maintenance is high and not as heat resistant as other options..
Gyro is actually pronounced "yeero" in Greek, like when you say "yeet" 😄 I think I prefer the quartzite, seems a bit softer in the eye, although the marble is also beautiful.
I vote for the quarzite. Is much more muted. I think the other option will be too much
Quartzite; more economical, durable, less maintenance; nice warm undertones; less veining (you need to bring out the light in that dark space!); overall looks pretty! 🎉❤
It’s pronounced yee-ro 😊
I believe the g in gyro is actually pronounced as an H. So Hiro (i not pronounced as the word"hi" but"he") and you roll the R. I THINK!!!
definitely quartzite <3
quartize all the way, marble is already looking outdated
I do love green also but my personal feeling is that the upkeep of the marble just wouldn’t be worth it. The quartzite is just a gorgeous and the warm tones are so nice!!
The rainbow fish mineral is called labradorite and is my ultimate favvvvvv (sincerely a geologist)
i’ll go against the majority and say the calacatta marble looks so classic and outstanding in its own way! it gives a pop of element amidst the dark kitchen – classy but outstanding in its own bold way!
Former kitchen designer here. Customers tend to have a very good experience with quartzite. Even with sealing, marble will patina over time.
Quartz
It takes a while to renovate… It's yiros (y as yet) btw. Hugs from Greece.
Both beautiful, but I love the quartzite more!
calcatta verde for sure!!!
I'm so in love with that marble 😍 the green and brown tones and dramatic veining! Then again, I am very extra, and my style def skews very vintage glamour & art deco w/ mcm lines. The marble requires a bit more care, but ask yourself: How often have you set a hot dish directly on your countertop before? That's not really a habit I want to get into 😅. How quickly do you usually tend to spills? What's your plan for the backsplash, and which countertop would compliment that best? If you go bold with one, you shouldn't go bold with the other lol then you have to consider your usual design choices in decorating and if you'll even be able to see enough countertop to appreciate it in the first place.
I'd go with the quartzite countertops.
Hahaha Gyro is pronounced like YEE-RO! 😂🥰 the Greek don’t pronounce the G in it!
I think maybe you should make up your mind before ordering everything or paying contractors to do work. Change orders make everything cost more… also Samsung are the worst appliances..
Calacatta is gorgeous
Calacatta verde!!!!!
Yesss can you please do a what I should have done differently video
Loving that Calcutta verde
I'm late to the party but an amazing grey/brown is BM Iron Mountain. I sweeeeear it's the greatest color.
quartz
Please dont wait like six more months for the next video lol
Quartz scratches and so easy!! And it can chip easy as well. Just a friendly warning my friend.
Gyro is pronounced "hero" in greek
