How Ukraine Retaking Crimea Would Destroy Russia

Ukraine’s recapture of Kherson in November 2022 put Crimea into the spotlight. The peninsula is now within range of HIMARS and other weapons, and there is speculation of a Ukrainian spring offensive in Zaphorizia Oblast to cut Russia’s land bridge to Crimea in preparation for an invasion. Here’s why that would destroy Russia.
Crimea is one of Russia’s most strategically important pieces of real estate. It is the location of both Russia’s main black sea naval base and one of its few warm water ports – ports that do not freeze in winter. Politically, Putin has promoted his annexation of Crimea as his greatest achievement. Its loss would not only cripple Russia’s military, economy, and supply lines into Ukraine, but Putin’s own prestige and potentially bring him and his regime down.
This may be why Russia tried to carry out an offensive operation in Zaporizhia near the end of January 2023. If Ukraine recaptures it, Crimea becomes much more vulnerable.

  1. Yup if they take back Crimea , Putin like a cornered animal might go for broke and start handing out the mushroom cards.

I don't understand why people keep forgetting Russia is armed to the teefers with the nooks .

They need to negotiate before Putty drops it like it's hot.

  2. Crimea is very important to Russia. With the world arming the Ukraine up, Russia has no choice but to escalate. How far is Russia willing to go? All the way, I think. China is our main threat. Do we really want conflict with Russia?
